Ok so my real question is, can I, is it possible? do people do it? Is it a bannable offense? to play a drow, now keep in mind I will be playing an evil drow like I did back on the Immersea server for NWN. Although it might be a little odd due to the graphic limitations. So?....

Frowned upon?
Ok, I looked at past topics and it seems like always, drow/dark elves seem to not have been played well from what I've read. I have also read that I cannot remember the name but he said something along the lines of 'please don't play non-supported races'. Yet I read that their are tons of drow (Hehe, likes always ever since of Drizzt), yet they are good drow. Since Illarion seems to have no history of drow then I will go by the D&D history of that fact that out of 99% of drow 1% actually have feelings of sorrow or remorse or something of that sort. Well anyways I wanted to play a drow but after reading about all this I'm curious as I should or not. I already have my drow name and left out the title as its the easiest thing to notice about a drow (If I, well if I choose to not play one, whatever). So as of now I'm just an elf with a drow name that I believe most people would not even notice unless they converted it.

In my mind, a drow isn't even an elf. A drow and an elf are as alike as an orc is to a human, In my opinion. If you choose an elf and play a drow.. it just wouldn't make any sense, because their abilities are different. I'm not sure if it's allowed to play a drow; I'm not a gamemaster or anything, but in my opinion, it wouldn't be a good idea.
P.S.: Heh, Drizzt is awesome. Isn't the new book coming out this month?

Honestly, I think they would like people to stay away from these things because they do not have a description for them yet as they do with other characters.

An important part why players shouldn't play races or mixtures of races not implemented is because others can't notice that right away.
A drow looking like an elf does provocate way different reactions from other chars then a drow looking like a drow.
Just think about this situation:
Elven like looking Drow walks through the streets
Elf 1: "Hello brother"
Elf 2: "Greetings, brother" (thinking it would be an elf from the elven avatar)
Drow: "Don't call me brother, threehuggers!"
Elves (slightly confused by being called treehuggers by a fellow elf): "What do you have, fellow elf? Why do you insult us that way?"
Drow "Don't touch me, treehuggers. I am not one of you, don't you see my dark face and silver hair?" (must be blind elves, really...)
Elves "So be gone, creature. Hurry home to your mistress before we make you vanish!"
A little bit strange, isn't it?
So don't play things other people cannot see right away from your avatar.

There is simply no history about Drows, because you dont need it.
Players should not play Races/Creatures that are not supported by us (Client/Server/System/Rules).
Drows have special Characteristics/Abilities/Apperance that is not supported in any way by our system.
Playing a Drow may lead to a ban of this character.
(Depending on Circumstances)

I would say, don't play a drow. My first or second character was a Drow, but it was next to impossible to play. Drows do not look like normal elves, they have much darker/greener skin and couldn't be mistaken for one easily.
But in Illarion with all characters of a race loooking the same, it just was next to impossible to play a drow without too much OOC. Mostly from other chars, etc...
I would love to see drow implemented, but as a separate race with different graphics. This would solve 80% of the problem.
The other 20% comes from the fact that most people just don't know how to play drow. I saw others try to play drow and it was sickening. Drow are, by nature, sadistical. They derive pleasure from pain. Their goals in life are to please themselves at any cost. None of the drow I saw played were played that way, and it actually a very difficult way to play.
There are only 2 or 3 people I've seen in the world that play excellant evil characters, which kinda makes me wonder about them

Nominate me, Serpardum. Now. Or I'll set your hair on fire and dunk your head into a pot of kerosene, then while you're burning, I'll grab a surgical 2 x 4, and continue to whack your shins until you can't concentrate on the pain of your head burning.
I also had a plan for pumping out the belly of a whale and sending you inside one, but me being from the midwest, that would be kind of difficult and costly.
Or my best plot...hit you with a banjo.
