No, it's just that certain questions are asked over and over again, although they can be answered with a little bit of common sense or a quick look through this site and boards.
At a certain point this gets truely annoying.

Imagine visiting the boards nearly everyday for one, two or three years. Now, imagine seeing the same questions from new players, or worse, people who have yet to be accepted and have never been in the game, day after day. Sometimes, the same question is asked multiple times, by different people in the same day.

Now, imagine telling these people over and over and over again, to search for the answer using the handy-dandy search function. After a while, this process becomes very tiring and annoying.

As for the attitude of the community at large:

Every community, online or not, has a personality. This rather rough exterior is ours. However, we have a warm, cozy interior.

The reason that some replies in the newbie forum sound strange is simple. I still remember the time when i started to play Illarion and i can tell you that 90 % of the questions are unecessary. Everything can be found out ingame, in fact i made my board account some weeks later and it went perfectly. Some things i learned by asking other players others simply by try and error.(What may be in that mysterious cave?...Can i outrun this huge red thing with glowing green eyes?...)

Add what Viola wrote and dont forget the countless ways to get an answer to your question.(Search function,library,other players,homepage,F1-F5 what Eliza shouts 24 hours a day,etc.) I know that some people would like a helping hand but there are many better and faster ways than spamming the board with topics the moderators have to read every day(every topic and every reply)

And i still see no sense in asking questions how this or that has to be done IG, which weapon is the best , etc before your account is even accepted. Personally i didnt know what to ask, because i didnt know how this game would be like.

@Viola
I would say "very honest" not "rough". :wink:

I dunno about me Vivi. Im all rough and tough and mean and gristle, but a warm fuzzy interior? What am I? A corndog? My insides are composed of rusted nails, broken glass, and discarded pieces of sandpaper!
