Forum trouble
This is getting oh so tiring, and this is the last time I hope to see this happen.
In the off topic forum, there was a small, entertaining post about the "In my pants" game. Due to some GMs not liking it, it was closed. Their only excuse was that it is pointless. Now, it is a game. It entertains and raises morale. It makes people think out of the box. Tell me the difference between that small game and Illarion. Is there any? Nope. They both achieve the same purpose. By your definition, that would make Illarion pointless, or spam, or whatever you choose to call it. How come Illarion still exists? How come no great ruler of internet has deemed Illarion too pointless to exist, and smiten it? Because, shouldn't that be the case?
I feel that GMs should not take all their godly powers into their hand and use them on whim. It takes away that friendliness from the game. It incites the players to be just as unfriendly. I mean, some players will bite your head off for trying to be humourous and lighten spirits. They get their example from the GMs, who allow thus activities to pass as acceptable. I urge the GMs to please be a little more understanding and not to lock posts just because they deem them "pointless" when, on second look, they may not be.

I have to agree. Hell, if a GM would at least explain WHY we have a stupid Off-topic board that would at least be a start. If topics are going to be locked because they don't want to participate or think its not to their liking, then just remove the damn thing. GM's aren't supposed to make opinionated decisions on what's pointless. Their job is to stick to the facts.. things such as where certain topics actually belong. Not, "Well, I don't like this thread, so its closed."
May I make a comment? ^_^' I'm but a humble newbie, but I know a bit about message boards.
I think when the gamemasters say "off-topic", they don't mean to have no topic at all, but they mean you can have topics there that don't relate to Illarion. Having random people run around saying things "in my pants" isn't really a topic.
Most message boards like this have off-topic areas so that players can get to know each other rather than just characters getting to know characters, so I'm guessing that's why they made that board.
Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

Yes, I do(Although they haven't opened the account yet and it has been 5 days, I have gotten the account accepted e-mail that follows the story), and I was refering to the "In My Pants" game. Personally, if I don't like something I usually ignore it, but the GFs can do whatever they want, afterall, it's their site.

Well..regardless if it had no point to anything....the final points to made are
1. It wasnt hurting anyone
2. Just because you don't like it doesnt mean you should keep everyone else from having fun
3. Rude comments insulting us participating is not very kind.
4. Gm's may have the power of God on the board and in the forum, but it doesn't give them the right to do as they please. With great power comes responsibility.
5. If that topic makes you mad...don't freaking read it...how hard is it not to check that specific topic....is someone forcing you to read it? ((i know the gms must read everything but that game was not anything bad))
Im personally am getting tired of seeing things like this happen. Can't we all just get along, and stop tearing at each others throats?

A perfectly good explanation.Pants sold out.
Your pants are closed !!
I am really disappointed by this. I thought that the boards were a more fun place. I see I was wrong. The GMs do not encourage a diverse range of personalities, roleplaying styles, and so on. Unless things are exactly like they want them, the GMs will get rid of it. Its truly sad. If I were to make a game, it would be far more inviting to the players to have fun and be silly, if it pleases them. As long as they don't hurt anyone.
The rules of the general board. i see a topic asking "What is runescape?" which is still open and people are still replying to that but an off topic post is locked in the off topic forum?"Everything about Illarion that fits nowhere else."
There are too many people with big ego's that cant say "sorry i'm wrong" to save their life. Not pointing the finger at anyone but i think we all know who."Can't we all just get along, and stop tearing at each others throats?"
Hm?? i didnt quite understand what you were trying to say.Vindigan wrote:The rules of the general board. i see a topic asking "What is runescape?" which is still open and people are still replying to that but an off topic post is locked in the off topic forum?"Everything about Illarion that fits nowhere else."
And you know how there are those sentences that make sense, but make no sense at all, well heres one, and i quote vindigan on this.
an off topic post is locked in the off topic forum.
What i was trying to say was there is a topic in the general forum that dosnt belong there and it is still open. The runescape one. BUT the off-topic post you made (in my pants game) was in the right forum and it got locked. I just dont see why they lock some threads and not others
hey i'm on your side Salathe, stop bustin my balls!

Okay Caranthir, thats it....Back off!!!!!!!!...do not go insulting the players, that is completly against all rules!!!!! Now, think of it this way
Players start silly game in off topic forum
Gm's and select few complain it shouldnt be there, then lock topic
Players who started game ask why and voice opinions about the matter
Insulting begins by the ones against the game
Boy howdy...the people who want the game must be the bad guys in this scenario.

Insulting? Me? I find it insulting that you found my post insulting - Now back off!!!!!
Why the double standard?

We'll aren't you touchy. I wouldn't find this even remotely insulting if someone said this to me. This is not an insult, it is a assuming statement, opinion one could say.You must have very difficult outside Illarion, being unable to cope with anything that opposes your personal opinion.
True, certainly silly, or stupid.Players start silly game in off topic forum
So basically what you are implying is that it is alright to support 'the game', but it is not alright to say out loud your negative opinion about it?Gm's and select few complain it shouldnt be there, then lock topic Players who started game ask why and voice opinions about the matter
Why the double standard?
No insulting has yet taken place IMHO, you'll have to continue waiting to get something real to overreact about.Insulting begins by the ones against the game

I didn't find it a bit amusing. I just assumed it to be so in the light of your previous statements. (And it was not aimed at you alone, 'your' being all the ones supporting the game.)
But the example is flawed, since our opinions don't really count. (Or they do, but not in a sense of democracy)
Really I don't mind it, its not my game/forum anyways . (Don't take me wrong, I would have locked it too.)
I found it stupid, yes - but I didn't have the executive power to do something about it.
Weren't you the one calling 'us', the people who disagreed with you "meanies"? I don't mind, its your opinion and you can keep it. Out of common sense that would probably been the closest one to a real insult during this process.
Regardless of that, when the rules of the forum are not exactly clear of what suits where and what doesn't the decision is left for the GM's. The die is cast and this is the result, I believe that you've heard the term 'precedent'?
I am going to help you this one time, knowing how kind and helpful I am.
There are many places in the internet which allow you to make your own forum with its own rules and without the mean gamemasters! The joy!
http://www.proboards.com
There you can make a forum to which you can post (almost) WHATEVER you want.
Happy happy joy joy happy happy.

This is the exact description of the forum, so basically they could delete anything that doesn't fit in the frame of the vague 'Illarion off-topic thing'.Here you can post Illarion off-topic things.
IMO, the rules of the forum should be more exact, but the in my pants was a overshoot in uselessness and stupidity when compared to other topics of the forum.
We all know that it was off topic, but was it Illarion?

Hmmm..really..in your opinion...I think skateboarding is completely stupid and a dumb "sport" yet I didnt go on their topic bashing it trying to get it locked, the topic about talking about school or people who hate school...dumb...completely dumb, yet I didnt go in there yelling at them forcing my opinion on them...simple..I didnt look at the topics...and I really wish people who have problems with topics (such as yourself) would not simply go in there insulting the topic and people in posting in it and would just not pay attention....it would save alot of us from aggravation and other topics such as this.

You still fail to get it, don't you?
In my pants is NO discussion, unlike DISCUSSION about starting of school and skateboarding. Discussion is the key element here.
I don't like skateboarding either, so I chose not to comment on the topic.
The reason I commented to "in my pants" is that it is stupid, is not discussion and makes no sense.

Joke of the day? that is just like in my pants...yet..it isnt locked or has anyone complaining about it.....I still stick with my statement...there are people here, and some in power that get rid of things just because they dont like them, not caring about what anyone else thinks. Anything you say will never change my mind about that.
