Ok, I tried being nice in town but you lil high # punks are making life tough on me, so I'm gonna help you out see?
1) Illarion is a role playing game, if you are to lazy to type "you" "your" you will" go back to runescape. There a few player made rules for the town, first off no casting. this is a player enforced rule which gets scrutiny, depending on who catches you it may be a warning, or death. unfortunatly if I catch you it is the latter, got it? Roleplaying doesent mean "RPG,hack'n'slash game where you act as you like" it means "play a role suiting the time period" in other words, Medievel times which means words like "dawg,school,cool,mofoF-shots " and other modern slang is unaproprios. instead words like "blaggart,Bastard, Bloody/bleeding/bleeder, damn" were used also heres a no brainer Medevil(Mid-Evil) or Middleages, means Middle english (shakespearian) such as
Thy
Thee
Fare-Thee-Well
Fair
Maidan
That kind of language^ for ENGLISH USERS, German,French and Norse were also common Middle ages language.
2) Roleplaying
It may be hard, but damnit stop acting like its a bleeding chat room, or "I'm the best, all mighty ect ect" Pick a role and stick with it, such as a lumberjack, mage, seer (a popular one these days) warroir, gentleman, maidan. act your character class e.g
Dwarf, hates light, like shiny stuff, usually grumpy
human, unpridictable, doesent grasp complex things
halfling, emotional, like compliments, thinks its the best but doesnet say it aloud
orc, mean,cunning,daring
elf, quiet,knowledgable,good on its feet
an added note on names, use unique fricken names! here are some names that I have seen lately
adsag
Muten Roshi (DB)
some dude named Rumor SPreader
sir funky clown (or somthing...)
all of the cast of
FF7
FF8
FF9
some characters from Legend of dragoon
DB/DBZ/DBGT are espeiclly popular
Plays on all people in illarion.
3) powergaming
A touchy subject, but NO casitng on yourself is powergaming, but one form others are
Training swords,fists
training, parry
training magic
any kind of "get good quick" is powergaming
4) basic rules
some palyer made, others gm made.
no casting in town
no powergaming in town (or out)
no non Roleplaying killing
no running (logging) when attacked and losing its bad RP

don't kill people for casting in town! Most of the time its a newbie who has no idea about that rule as it's not in the rulebooks because it's a player rule. Warn him, that's the only way he finds out.

training should be legal.... in real life, if you have family traditions such as "kung fu" ect your father or a teacher would teach you skills.
if you can teach me how to craft, why not how to fight?
Now, it also depends on what type of spell... if they are not setting the fires in town, but across the river as a trial of their new spell, that is fine. or any attacks in my opinion too.
If they use it on another person.... then you can sick them.

so what you are saying is you will kill all those who cast in town, even if its healing, food, a weak spell, across the river.....
for selfish reasons that you lag....
ok... fine by me.

well, sometimes the flashy light and effect amuses them....
your not psychic, its impossible to guess why he or she is doing it for.
discovery of the wand made me curious of its effects too....
repeated healing or attack would amuse me that way... if all of a sudden "slice slice"came my way, how would that make you different from a PK? you killed someone who never heard of the no-casting in town... or slightly outside of town... just trying to experiment..
now like i said, unless they are using attacks on others, sick'em!
but your still OVER reacting..... and the issue you said it yourself is lag.

and then that annoying "how r u gonna maek me leave" when you warn them.

you should try reading more.
i never mentioned burning the library... however, i was talking about casting slightly out of town (mines area) and across the river. Not from the other side of the river to the library or at. ect....
again, you explained to me quite well:
"I am using a tempermentel p166, that is prone to lag storms.....CASTING MAKES ME LAG SEVERLY! "
it wasn't
"I am enforcing the laws (rules) of illarion, that is why im strict against people casting in town.....CASTING IN THE LIBRARY MAKES ME MAD SEVERLY! "

Contradiction ?
"no I kill anyone in the town who casts an attack spell, or spams healings for no reason. "
Yet in the guide you say:
"4) basic rules
some palyer made, others gm made.
no casting in town
no powergaming in town (or out)
no non Roleplaying killing
no running (logging) when attacked and losing its bad RP "

Ney'Tara,
what if i was disconnected during the time i was fighting the mummies? would that make me get punished too?
im not sure but i think, i might have lost some skill when i came back.

No, Chyan, I was stating the contradiction. Disconnecting by accident and purposly disconnecting are two seperate issues.
Either way, you can think of a million exceptions and situations for the rules.

about powergaming Lloyd...
would you say it was alright for some one to kill some one if they were making hundreds of potions? because that is, as you say, getting good quick.

"No casting in town"? What if it was a powerful Archwizard with megalomania and lots of spells used to make your spleen leave your body?
Where does a Demigod cast his spells?
The answer, my friends is "Anywhere he wants".

As mentioned many, many times before "no casting in town" is a player
made rule. It's just to tell people no one likes it. So the spleen crazed Arch
Mage would get attacked. Which would make sense, seeing as he is forcing
spleens out of bodies.

He has many spells to steal spleens? How many spleen-theft spells does one really need?
Sorry... I'll try to get back on topic.
The casting in town thing usually isn't too much of a problem. If the person is new and didn't know better, a little explaining usually ends the problem. In my experience, it's pretty rare that violence is actually necessary.
On the other hand, this demigod is welcome to cast his spells anywhere he wants, though if he wants to cast them in town, he may find arrows protruding from his semi-divine rear.

..... when i told them to train out of town, or stop casting in town cause it was illegal, usually they stop. Unless they are trouble makers..... but you cant say every new player has a intent of trouble making.

Lloyd, i like your post, especially about the role-playing, sticking to a role, about the race characteristics and so... i just wonder how to make people do so? i can just hope they will wise up by themselves
oh and shortly: there is one more reasons for no casting in town i believe (besides lagging), its spamming the chat area, imagine the blacksmith shop, where there are 5-10 people often and they all started to cast... try to talk to anyone then hihi

"i just wonder how to make people do so?"
I thought you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink. Im guessing your ways is to shove his head into the river until he drowns? Guess Lloyd is going to enjoy his PK role in the world with all the newbies hes going to kill.
sorry, when i blacksmith, i spam my own chatbox, in that area is natrually crowded... even if everyone was talking and not casting/smithing ect.... it still be "noisy".
When did i say 5-10 people cast? usually its only 1-3. Today, i caught a new guy in the library casting beside the shop.... i said, to him you shouldnt cast in town, and he didnt, he did what was best and went out to the mines. Now your saying the right punishment would of been to slice his head off?
As for PK, sick them all you want, they wont stop.
---(But dont be pushing all the problem to all the newbies. Sorry we didnt come first in line in this game! )
Like i said, many of the things in this game is about experiment, and many still get curious. The manual state "you need a reason to attack or kill another player". Im guessing for all those who is bored is just searching, DYING to catch a newbie doing something wrong so they can play ping pong with their eyeballs eh? another problem, stop telling the newbies to stop casting in town, i saw myself some elder players who did so... they got a slap on the wrist... or they got away.
Lead these new horses to the water, let them drink it themselves, if they dont, they will die of thurst. Push them in and many will drown.

accually the manual dont state anything about casting in town, im sure the board does, but they dont know that either..... how many players accually sign up to the board? not all.
The "friggin" manual can be updated so it does include... even afterwards words can be stronger than blade.....
stop finding excuse for killing people..... i suspect a heavy stinch of that sometimes.

Listen you ungratefullite. Making potions isent poweergaming, it could be saving lifes. If you tihnk I am a pk think again, I probably have less skills then you and your NEW. now I ment to the "troublemakers" not to the people who stop after being warned, but I am getting tired of warning people, thats why I killed off my character.
