The last official statement was 8:1 in the calendartopic (search for calendar to have a look).
But many complained about that ratio and the stuff said, that they would discuss this again and change it. But until now, the only official statement is 8:1.
I love the aging idea...but If my character died or old age, Im going to admit I would be really pissy for a while..lol....Even though it adds realism, perhaps maybe it isnt so great....but then again...3 to 1 ratio....that is a long time to play before I died...oh poop..nevermind my useless spam...~~sighs~~
I personally dont think the aging should be implemented into the game. Because if it is people will just start to become elves. Then we would have a huge percentage of elves around and few other species
Nowhere in the official background is said that Illarion elves do not die. It is only said that noone ever saw an old looking elf.
In my opinion people put way to many Tolkien elements into Illarion elves.
Anyway, I don't like the aging thing either. I don't want to be forced to loose my char.
Not only the Tolkien definition defined elves as not aging, almost all other also do.
On the other Hand, elves ARE defined by Tolkien, and should be. Else, it would not be elves anymore.
With age comes a certain view of things - that has defined the actions of elves throughout the whole existing part of the historyline.
Most sources do, but not all of them. And with this piece of information missing in the racial backgrounds and the to-do list stating that all races are supposed to age tells me that one day Illarion elves might be as mortal as any other race, if this feature is implemented.
And with "Tolkien elements" I meant other things too, for example the introduction of Sindarin language.
