Drow
This is a thread concerning the topic of "Drow in illarion"... post your opinion and let us have this done with.
There have been many Drow in illarion. And I for one have heard it repeatedly said that "Drow" do not exist in illarion. Once and for all I would like this to be settled. It is no good for some people to play Drow as their character's race when that race does not even exist in the world of illarion.
My opinion: Drow do not exist in illarion. Nowhere in the descriptions for Elves on the illarion homepage does it say "dark-purplish skinned, evil, chaotic and so on" What the description does say is this:
Elves = Large and slender. Noble features and a superior behavior are signs of an elf. They have almond coloured eyes and sharp ears. They are masters of archery, very educated and have great knowledge of magic. They adore all life and kill only in an urgency. They can see in the dark.
Drow in my point of view are a race apart from the race of "Elf" itself. They are in every way opposite from what the definition of "Elf" should be in illarion.
It makes RP very complicated and confusing when people play Elf characters and then make them "Drow". The presence of "Drow" brings up a whole list of problems.
It has been discussed and decided that such things as "vampires" and "werewolves" can not be played by characters and do not exist in illarion at this time. I believe "Drow" belong under this category as well for the same reasons that "vampires" etc. cannot be played.

I believe that just because their isn't a graphic for something doesn't mean you cannot roleplay it. After all this game in founded on roleplaying, and roleplaying anything is fine in my eyes. Its just a bunch of graphics, take that away and it is all the same.
My vote- Let them do what they are doing, adds to the fun of the game.

This is not merely a graphic's issue...just as people Rping vampires and such isn't only a graphical issue though that certainly is one of them.
I mean nowhere in the world of illarion has it ever been mentioned the existence of Drow just like nowhere in illarion is "vampire" mentioned. The world of illarion is not "the Forgotten Realms" just as it is not "Middle Earth".
As well as Adano mentioned it is impossible to tell if a char is Drow or not...
@Mandil Half-Elf is quite acceptable and playing a half-elf char is not so far-fetched to be ridiculous...Drow on the other hand is something so different from "Elf" as defined in illarion that it raises questions on its legibility...

Wrong, Bumbol.
If there would be drows in game, as choosable characters, there would be a drow race for players to choose when creating a character.
When some GMs found out about a player claiming to be a drow, well, they came up with a group of "drow" characters hunting the runaway slave (it was a MALE drow) hehehe...
Drows are NOT a player choosable race. We do not even have drows as monsters. Since drows WILL be implemented in the background and there IS something planned about drows IN THE STORY, please DO NOT PLAY drow characters.
Please only play the existing races.

@Damien Thank you for making things clear.
Well it is settled then, Drows are definitely not playable by characters right now...I see no point in continuing to this thread further.
To the players who currently play Drow chars: You are in an awkward position in my opinion, but my suggestion would be to somehow (preferably using some Rp) have your char change your race from Drow back to a legitimate race or just stop playing that char.
