Deep in the wilds, far away from any human being, a single campfire shines in the night. In front of it stands a tall figure, his arms crossed and his gaze concentrated on the dance of the flames. He stands there for hours now, as if he expects to see something in the fire. Although he is tired, he knows that he will not be able to sleep this night, his memories wont allow to loose himself in the oblivion of slumber.
As the horizon slowly begins to change into the dark grey of the morning and the first birds begin to start their songs, to greet the new day, he begins to move. With a grim look in his eyes he takes out a dagger and slashes his own left arm, so that the blood drops down into the fire. Fascinated he stares at his own blood dripping into the flames, then grabs some ash with his other hand and rubs it on the open wound. He waits untill the blood and the ash dry from the wind. He throws a handful of it high above the fire and watches it, as the winds carry it away and spread it on the soil.
It sounds like a prayer as he whispers to himself:
"Dust and shadows...dust and shadows.......dust and shadows..."
Apruptely he turns around and leaves the place, grief in his face, as he reminds himself that another friend will never be seen again.
The last of the Fire Seers has fallen..............

Hagen stops moving as he notices the grey cloaked figure standing in his path. Only for a moment you can see the expression of surprise in his face but then it changes to suspicion. He rests one hand on his sword hilt and looks closely at the stranger.
Several seconds pass in silence before Hagens addresses the stranger in a low, hostile voice, his eyes staring coldly at the man in front of him:
"Who are you and why do you disturb the peace i tried to find here in the wilds."
He stands still and seems to be prepared, if the cloaked figure should be inclined to attack.

Without moving at all, the figure speaks - Hagen recognizes Damien's voice, though his face still cannot be seen due to the surrounding mist.
"May the five reward you with the peace you seek. Know, that it was not my intention to disturb you."
Damien speaks quietly, slowly, still with melodic elven voice. Somehow, he leaves a peaceful impression.
"You are in anger, that much can be seen. But we always have the choice by ourselves. So, what will be yours ?" With these words, Damien point's at Hagen's hand that still rests on the sword's handle.

Hagen seems to ease a little as he recognizes Damiens voice. Slowly he realeses the hilt of his sword and nods to Damien.
"It is you Damien, right?..........I guess it is no coincidence that we meet here. I didnt expect to see another person out here in the wilds. So why did you search for me...what do you want from me?"
Although he doesnt sound hostile anylonger, a little suspicion remains in his eyes, as he awaits Damiens reply.

Damien moves a step forward, out of the mist.
"I saw the fire, a while ago, and followed its shine through the woods. Also, the whispers of a troubled mind were in the winds. So it was my decision to examine if someone here could need assistance. Perhaps, someone seeking for peace, in the wilderness."

Several seconds pass in silence. Hagen sighs deeply and answers slowly:
Thank you for the offer Damien but it is too late. Kincent already perished and i doubt you can do anything about it, im not here because i search for asssistance, but to mourn his passing and honour the memory of his life....I dont think anyone can give me assistance for this."
Hagen moves on, he bids farewell to Damien with a nod and disspappears into the morning mist.

"To mourn for those who passed on, is a private matter. To honor their memory, is a honorable matter. "
Damien nods thoughtfully, as Hagen turns and passes on.
"Those never forgotten, never die. Nothing that exists, can truely vanish - time is our path, and death is nothing but a gate on it, when we travel in honor."
Damien watches Hagen walking into the morning mist, then turns towards the spot where the sun will start to rise soon, to honor the beginning of a new day.

Deeper in the woods, sits an orc with an empty belly and a saddened expression from a days hunting which evidently has failed.
With his sad face he watches the flies that circulate around his body.
Then all of a sudden, the flies, one by one, leaves to what orc thinks is eastward.
He scrathes his head and gazes at the flies.
To himself he wonders, what can cause these tiny creatures to abandon his odor?
Must be either another orc passing in the woods or something rotten. Driven by hunger he runs east rapidly.
After a long run he stumbles upon what seems to be a human and an elf standing by a campfire.
Saddened once again to have lost track of the flies, he recognizes the figures to be Damien and Hagen.
Hearing that these men are discussing someones passing once again puts optimism into the orcs mind, for where there is death, there is often meat.
Wiping sweat from his forehead and saliva from the jaw, he walks into the campsite with a faked expression of concern.
"Hrmm...I hear you are in mourning friends....please tell..who has fallen this day....and where?"

Damien turns around, towards the orc, as Hagen walks out of sight.
"Someone has fallen, and somewhere - i do not know.
He turns around again, facing the rising sun.
"I can hear your stomach grumbling. You should find something to fill it - i saw a fresh wild pig's trace in the bushes, just half a hand span's walk away. Seek the bushes near the rock north of here."

The orc finds it hard to determine wether Damien speaks the truth or is trying to lure him away. He cannot either get a hint of it by looking into the eyes of the elf as he is facing the sun.
He has during his younger years learned that men, dwarfs and elves, consider it a crime to consume the flesh of someone fallen, especially if it is someone known or closely related, and to be caught commiting such an act can have dire consecuences indeed.
Horrified by the thought that suspicion had arisen in the elfs mind, the orc starts to become nervous.
"I am grateful for the assistance, may whatever gods you worship bless you..." the orc utters and dissapears running towards the trail.
As he is out of sight he mumbles to himself,
"Damned be those sensetive pointy ears that hears the belly which can never remain silent. My foolishness has denied of yet another meal.
But I will eat soon, one way or the other....yum-yum."
