Dock??

Post by Khalime »

I propose a sort of dock..It may be useless now, since there isnt another island in the game..But the dock gives people the ability to say "(someone) arrives on dock" like what a new-comer said in the RPG board..I know it isnt a need and, therefore, should't be rushed to be built"..

Why not a ship too, how are they going to get to the island, swim?

Well, like Maktan said, there's one in the south-west, and then I think there's
another one more to the east...I'm not totally sure...

I would like to see a dock closer to town where it could be more communal. It would be nice just to lounge around on the dock meeting people and fishing. Not to mention RP elements.

maybe a trade ship, and there are only certain days when a npc trader out on the dock is available to buy things from.

yeah! an npc trader that comes only like wednesday and friday or something! i can see it now:

"Come see me, Crazy Luther, and buy my rare carpets at LOW LOW PRICES only at wednesday and friday!!!!!!!"

*song starts* SAVE BIG MONEY AT LUTHERS!*song ends*

(not to insult the idea i really think it would be cool to make exotic items that come just from an npc that comes every few days to sell them)

Uhm... okay...

This idea was proposed already... Uhm... Look up travelling salesman, started by either Malinne or Niniane, not sure...

Its just not practical. Why would you do this? Its a lot of extra work, and... wait, what was proposed, a dock? Oh... We already have one, and we need no ships for there is no place to go and it doesn't make any sense to have ships, being that the world is flat.

....Paul, no use for a ship? Well generally people don't appear on docks , or do they I could be mistaken. This might help newbies roleplay how they got there a little better since most people nowadays seem to take things litterally. Like they would say "I got off the boat onto the dock" instead of "I teleported and somehow got into your library". See what I mean? Not a whole lot of newbs know how graphical illarion is. So this way we won't make them look like fools when starting out.

So, your proposal is to start newbs off on the docks instead of in the library? Why didn't you just say that in the first place. That shouldn't be too hard to manage, I'm just not sure if the locations of characters are stored on the server or in the client.

How about a small building near the dock? It would be welcoming. And yes, it would be a good way to start for newbs - at the docks, so they would have to find the town themselves.

So they get lost in the woods, alone, without anybody nearby to explain the controls? ... very welcoming.

They would know the controls if there was a better newb guide *cough*

The dock isn't that far from town, but I'm surprised it is as far as it is. Docks are usually the center of a town, with everything building off of them.

Maybe if there is a fjord or inlet. Maybe make a path from the dock to the town?
