Farewell Illarion!

Post by Malinne »

To everyone,

In January I joined the US Air Force. I've been in the delayed entrance program, or DEP. This means that I would not being going into active duty immediately after enlisting but after I finish reaching requirements such as graduating for high school and finding a job in the military. Well, my time has come and I'm leaving on Tuesday for basic military training (BMT) or boot camp. This means that for the next two months I'll be sweating my ass off, crawling in mud and being yelled at. It'll be fun, I'm sure, so don't worry about me, I like mud and the thought of getting to play with M16's (which I won't be able to do ever again because I have bad depth perception).

So anyways. The point. *ahem*. I'm not going to be playing Illarion for a long while. I will probably be able to visit the message boards after boot camp and during tech school in a couple of months, but I won't be able to play Illarion until I'm allowed to have my own computer in my room which is after my technical training in about seven or eight months.

Now, I just know all of you are so sad to hear this  , but I'll never forget any of you. I hope everything runs well and Illarion continues to grow. Good luck with the new client and anything else new.

So yeah, these are *sniff* my last few days here for a while. I just thought I'd let everyone know so I don't forget anyone as I tell people individually. Plus, that would just take a long time because I like most of you. It's been fun.

To the admins, GM's, moderators and all those other people who kept and currently keep Illarion alive: Keep up the great work! :D I really will miss you all!

Love always,
"Malinne"

I know we havent met but see you later.

ps Some advice on bootcamp because a couple of my friends have gone into the military.

1). dont pay much attention to the drill instructers verbal abuse.(its thier job)

2). if the drill instructers start to get to you fight back(twisting off the salt lids at mess is supposedly a great trick)(just dont get caught).

3).I think smoking is still not allowed(so dont)

4). Dont drop out and good luck

Noooooooooooo!

The player of Muten Rôshi screams and throws his grandmother down the stairs. Then he thinks about spamming his post with crying emoticons but doesn't.

Hmm...

Malinne, it's been nice knowing you... It kind of sucks that you are going to leave now but I know we'll meet each other again.

You have been a good friend to me and I am quite sad to see you go, even if it is for just a "short" time. Hopefully this period will pass quickly.

I hope you have fun in boot camp, getting yelled at is fun. I will miss you a lot, and I already can't wait for you to return...

Well I'm off to study some more combinatoral and point-set topology, so I guess I'll get going now. I hope I'll see you soon.

Love(kind of!),
Muten Rôshi

They do allow smoking just not while in basic training. If you do just don't throw the butt on the ground.

My brother is in the Army and he was in basic training when they could smoke. He threw a cigarette butt on the ground and a sergeant saw him. The sergeant made him dig a hole 3 foot wide x 3 foot long x 3 foot deep. The sergeant then took an ash tray which had 25 cigarette butts in it, and dumped them in the hole. He then told my brother to fill the hole back in. After this was finished he made him dig it back up again and make sure that he got all 25 cigarette butts out of it and put them in the trash.

Needless to say, he didn't throw any more cigarette butts on the ground. They don't like you throwing cigarette butts on the ground. Number one, it's littering. Number two, in a combat situation it leaves a trail for the enemy to follow.

Malinne,

It has surely been a fun ride so far, hasn't it? I have very much enjoyed playing Illarion with you and I hope your experience has also been fun. I am sad to see you go, as you are one of the few people I enjoy playing this game with anymore and I consider you my friend, but as long as you will return, I will manage. Good luck with the Air Force. I'm sure you will do well. As the player of Muten Rôshi said:
Muten Rôshi wrote:...getting yelled at is fun.
You said before that you will return. Well, I hope you return to us soon. It will be much less entertaining with you gone and I am sure all of us are going to miss you greatly, whether or not we post on this topic. Try not to stay away too long. I know its silly to say that since you probably don't have too much choice in that matter, but it makes me feel a bit more at ease to know that you will have that in mind.

I do not know how much Illarion will change while you are away, but no matter how much it does change, you will always have a place here. We will always welcome you back. So, go out, have fun, serve with pride, and come back to us some day.

With all the love a roleplayer can have towards another roleplayer,

Cuderon-

Nope, it's not a special kind of mud. It's just the mud you get when you add water to dirt. Great for crawling through. :D I can't stay with Illarion because when I took the Oath of Enlistment in January I kind of sold my soul to the government and cannot back out. If I don't report to wherever they say, I'll have the FBI tracking me down which wouldn't be cool. :(

Kincent-

You gave away the good ending! I'll miss you too.

Salathe-

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssss. Sorry. :(

Drolagas-

Heh, I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but thanks and you too.

Aradhul Rythwier-

Yeah, I know too. Perhaps we can meet when I come back. Thanks for the advice, especially the salt lid one including the not-getting-caught part. :D

Maktan Hardtooth-

Aw, don't cry. Of course I'll never forget Maktan. *rubs her head* Adios for now. And yeah, don't get so mushy!

Gro'bul-

Hee hee. I'm not dreading how short they have to cut my hair. I already got it cut. It's cut so that I'll have a mullet by the time I finish boot camp. In the Air Force (I'm not sure about the other branches) women don't have to cut their hair unless it's hazardous. For example, if it were so long that they might trip over it while they're marching or running. Anybody who gets broken limbs gets "recycled", the most feared word of all recruits. It means you have to start all over again and get yelled at and pushed twice as much as anybody else.

Muten Rôshi-

Yeeeeeeesssssss! Sorry. (what is it with you lizard people?) I really hope your grandma is okay... Yeah, it's been nice knowing you too and we will definitely meet again. :D I'm sure the time will pass quickly enough. I must have brainwashed you into liking me, and you'll recover from it and realize it after a few days of my absence. Yeah, getting yelled at is pretty fun, too bad I'm so used to it by now. I can't wait to be back. Have fun studying and pretending to be smart!

Viola-

Viola! Thanks. Malinne will make lots and lots of bottles for you for free if and when she comes back. :D

Korg-

You're right, it won't make a difference unfortunately. I don't have the choice anymore. The only way I can get out is by getting hit by a car or getting pregnant. Neither would be very pleasant as I hate kids and I hate cars. :? Simply skipping out on my shipping date means getting chased by the FBI aka not enough time to play Illarion anyway. Thanks, Korg, I'll miss you.

Crocket-

It's funny that you guys bring up that subject. Just last night, my parents' friend told me that they do allow smoking during boot camp. I was worried that we couldn't because smoking helps me relax and clear my mind. Yeah, I understand why the drill instructors don't want butts on the ground in the open. So what do we do then? Hmm... think integrity... Dig a little hole with my foot, put cigarette butt in hole, cover up with a little dirt. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I guess I'll give that a try. What did your brother do? Stop smoking until the end of BMT?

Cain-

Yep, it's been fun. I'm sure you'll manage as well, don't be sad. I know I said I'd return soon. I will be able to return to the boards in a couple of months, but I probably won't be able to download the game and actually play. I'll do all I can to not stay away for longer than I have to. If Illarion changes, I know it will only keep growing and improving. :) I look forward to seeing the changes, the new faces, etc. Goodbye!

Rion-

Hmm... I'm not familiar with you, but thanks. :D Perhaps we can meet next time.

Salathe-

I'm not going to say it again. Yes, I'm going and I will miss you dearly. On IM I did say I could download Illarion in my dorm room. However, I just recently found out that I cannot use a personal computer in my dorm during tech training. :( I thought I could, but I can't until I get to my first permanent duty station which is going to be in about eight months or so (If only I chose a simpler job *sighs*). I'll return when I can though. :D

Grant-

Bye Grant, good luck to you too in whatever you do over the next few months. I'll probably be able to talk again in a couple of months. Having fun will be no problem for me. You have a fun summer.

Freo-

Heh, that obstacle course will wish it's never been born... By the way, my real name is Andrea. :)

Tomorrow is my last day!

The player of Mister K. (RL name = Konstantin) signs up under every word said by Malinne's friends. (Except for Muten's player's grandma, I guess).

I have only known you for a few weeks, yet I will already miss you as if I knew you for a long time. I will never forget what you did for me.
That was the sensitive part.

8 months will fly by like hours, trust me. Every time you feel down or just bad during the BMT, remember this phrase, and repeat it to yourself: "It could be worse. I could be in the Russian Army".

You will do excellent, because you are a survivor. You will like it, I know you will. Just always mind that you have friends here, we all love you, and can't wait till you come back.

Things will change, but you're prepared.

Fight, like you've never been shot.
Work, like you don't need the money.
Dance, like nobody's watching.
----
PS
Write us when you are through BMT. Tell us how it went. We will laugh.
Good luck, farewell.
Love, K.

Fooser-

A gringo, eh? Actually I'm Mexican. I may look whiter than anybody, and act whiter than anybody but believe it or not I'm Mexican, even if mixed with a little French and Spanish. I've been told I look anything but Mexican, even Asian! I'm sure there will be ways to stay in touch. :)

Pronon

Hee hee, I look forward to that event. Good luck with it, Malinne may feel like being entertained, and might even participate. Kincent's going to be dead though so you should find someone to replace him. I've been told I have good work ethic and I should be fine if I just apply my ability to whatever I have to do. For boot camp I'm going to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. That is where we get to list our choices of permanent duty stations. I hope to go overseas, but I don't know where I'm going to be stationed yet. During tech school I'm going to be all over the US. I didn't take my ID picture yet. If it's half as good as my driver's liscence photo, then it'll be alright.

Aradhul

Nope, I'm not going to the academy. That will only happen if I decide to make the Air Force a career, which isn't a bad idea. My uncle says I should just go to Officer Candidates School instead and get a private pilot's liscense. I'll just have to see. And thanks for the last tip.

Konstantin

I'll miss you too! Anything I did for you was nothing, no need to thank me, but you're welcome just the same. :D I hope time does go by that fast, but who knows, maybe I'll like all the things I have to do in the meantime. Heh, yeah, you've told me quite a bit about the Russian Army. Doesn't sound like something I would sign up for. It kind of sucks that it's required for citizens too. I'll tell you guys everything if you want, but I don't think I'll spam these boards with all that stuff... maybe only with the amusing parts.

Hey, don't diss the soviets, stunish! Well, I wish I could say I'll miss you, but I won't. Hehe, just messing with you. What you should really remember is what Fredrich Nietszche said. "What does not kill me makes me stronger". Hey, if you can, try to get into Macguire Airforce Base in New Joisey. Its a pretty good base, from what I hear. Had a teacher who worked there. We also have the best radio stations. :D

Uhm, I don't think I'll push my grandma down the stairs for you... Just, take care...
