I am hear to find someone.
Lúthien, a fairly young elven lady, looks around a little to the west of the Seahorse Inn, but in order to avoid wasting energy on exploring the unfamiliar terrain and meeting with the monster that Muten told her to watch out for, she decides not to spend too much time looking herself. She decides to go with her other idea and post a message in the public forum in hopes that either Malinne herself or someone that knows of her whereabouts will happen to see it:
I am searching for a human woman by the name of Malinne. I have already asked a few of the locals if they had seen her and besides Alice, not many people have seen her around lately. I hear she is in the western woods, but I am not certain and because I do not know the landscape myself I do not wish to expell much energy seeking her. I am here by the order of my Captain, Gunnsteinn Healton. I am sure she will recognize the name and will be obliged to come with me to see him in his state. He wishes nothing more than to see her again before he passes.
Thank you,
~Lúthien Falassion~

Malinne approaches the wall to see what news she had missed when she comes accross Lúthien's message. Her eyes light up with confusion and even almost panic as she reads.
She looks up towards the direction where she saw the elven woman who she presumes now to be Lúthien herself but she seemed to disappear, nowhere in sight.
"I must find her. My... he... They've come back for me!" she says almost unable to breath and she rushes off to find Lúthien. The familiar scent, the strange dreams.
"I won't be on this island much longer." she says with a smile yet with a pain in her heart.

After a day of searching for Lúthien who had decided to venture off into the woods, Malinne runs into an elf who lies resting beneath the shade of a large tree.
"Could this be her? Is it Lúthien?" Malinne asks herself as she observes the elf she crossed paths with the night before. It is indeed her eye opens at the sound of her name.
"Who are you?" Lúthien asks, suspicious of the stranger, prepared for anything. She gracefully stands without rustling the leaves beneath her feet and brushe her hair out of her face with her right hand.
"I think you are looking for me." Malinne answers as the woman watches her sharply with her one good eye. "I am Malinne. You were sent to fetch me by Gunnsteinn, I read your message on the wall. You are Lúthien are you not?"
Lúthien nods.
"It's about time. Such a small island, let alone town and it takes me three days to find you!" she says with a smile.
"So you are here to take me away then. Where is the ship?" asks Malinne.
"It is anchored just to the west of the island north of here. I came here alone on a small boat. There is only room for two more people and a few items you wish to bring. We must leave soon, I don't know how much longer he will be with us..." Lúthien looks down.
"What is wrong with him?" Malinne asks with concern.
"We do not know, one day he fainted on the deck and he has hardly been able walk since then. He requires a staff to support himself and for the past few days he's been lying in his death bed..." Lúthien shrugs.
Malinne falls deep into thought as she listens to Lúthien speak, tears almost fall from her eyes at the thought of him dying.
"How could I have forgotten his name, how could I have forgotten anything? I must leave, I must go with Lúthien!" Malinne thinks to herself. "I owe them that much."
"Shall we leave today or tomorrow?" Malinne asks. "The sun is still low in the sky." she says shielding her eyes as she looks over the horizon."
"We'll leave as soon as you are ready. Do you wish to bring anyone with you?" Lúthien asks.
"I'm not sure," Malinne tries to think of who could go with her. Someone like Cain, perhaps, who was aboard the ship while she was, but he has more reason to stay. "I know exactly who I'll bring. I should go find her. I'll meet you in the library by the end of today." she says finally beginning to head for town.
Lúthien nods. "Alright then. We can leave in the morning. It'll give you time to say your good-byes and such."

Cain aimlessly wanders about the town, talking to people as he passes. Eventually, he stumbles across the town wall. He sees Luthien's message and looks distraught. He writes:
So Captain Gunnsteinn Healton is ill. This worries me. How serious is it? I must see him one more time. Maybe I can help.

Lúthien reads Cain's post and writes a reply:
Dear Cain,
It is good to hear from you, it's quite a surprise to see that you're here. Gunnsteinn has shared many a good word about you. You were one of his finest men from the stories he's shared about his travels. I have much respect for you and hope to meet you in person.
Right now Captain Healton is not doing to well. We have no idea what is wrong with him. We doubt he will live for long even though we have been doing all that we can for him. He promised to return for Malinne and here we are. There is only room for one more person on my boat that will take us to the ship. Perhaps Malinne will think to bring you along with her. I'm sure Gunnsteinn will apreciate your company. Anything that will make him feel even the slightest better.

Alice is busy sitting by the river reviewing recipes she has recently learned. She is simply trying to pass time as she wonders when she will see Malinne again. A strange sensation has come over her and she has a feeling she won't be around much longer. She's become very quiet this day as she knows something is about to happen. Something big, and she's not sure she's going to like it.
"Alice!" she hears Malinne call out. Alice looks up to see Malinne approaching.
"Hi Alice!" Alice responds with a smile. "How are you?"
"Er, I'm alright." Malinne says. "Listen, I must tell you something." Alice just looks at Malinne wondering what she has to say. She feels she can almost read her thoughts when she looks into her eyes, but instead looks down awaiting Malinne's words. "You have met Lúthien, right?"
Alice nods her head. "Yes, I have. She was looking for you the other day. Why?"
"Well, I'm going to leave the island with her. I can bring one other person with me and I wanted to know if you wanted to go." Malinne pauses for a minute to see Alice's reaction. Her eyes light up and she looks at Malinne again with a confuse expression.
"Why me?" Alice asks.
"Why not? I thought maybe I could help you get home and find your family. I will do whatever I can to help you. You've become like a daughter to me within the short time we have known each other. So what do you say?" Malinne asks, awaiting a response.
Alice thinks a little about the question. She isn't sure if she wants to leave. She has found someone special here on Illarion and she knows she will miss him too much. Of course, nothing is more important to her than her father and her sisters. She would kill to see them again. Plus there could be so many adventures ahead of her which she would be thrilled about now that she knows she is strong enough to handle a little excitement. And all the while she'll be near Malinne, who has become her best friend and... "Yes, I'll go. How long will we be gone for? I want to come back to Illarion, it's my home now you know. I like it here. Plus..." Alice whispers something to Malinne and Malinne just nods.
"I can't answer that. I will try to help you and bring you back here if you like. I will hope to return to, but I have other things I must do. You don't have to accompany me the whole time." Malinne replies.
"So when do we leave?"
"Tomorrow morning. You have today to spend with your friends. Meet Lúthien and I in the library at the end of the day." Malinne says to Alice who nods in agreement. "I'll see you then." She walks away leaving Alice to read her books.

The sun has just set and Malinne walks into the library and removes her cloak. She looks around and when she doesn't see anyone she just sits at one of the tables nearby and begins to wait. She browses through a dusty old book of about dragons that was left lying out on the table. She smirks as she looks at the elaborate sketches of the imaginary creatures.
After a few minutes of silence Alice's war cry can be heard.
"Moo!" she cries out and Malinne only shakes her head as Alice enters the library. "Hi Malinne, where's Lúthien?" she asks as Malinne looks up towards the doorway.
"She's no here yet, I've only been here a few minutes myself." she says as she closes the book and pushes it aside.
Alice just shrugs and sits next to Malinne. "What are you reading?" Alice asks as she reaches for the book Malinne set down.
"Just a book of imaginary beasts called dragons. And I wasn't exactly reading. I've already read that book twice; I was just admiring the artwork." Malinne looks at Alice who is already flipping through the pages with curiosity, hardly listening to Malinne's words.
They both look up as they hear footsteps approaching the library. Lúthien enters the building without a word and looks at Malinne, then at Alice. She scoffs at Alice's size then looks at Malinne.
"This is who you're bringing? She hardly passes for a passenger!" Lúthien exclaims. "I thought you would have made a much better choice and brought Cain with you instead. Didn't you even think about that?"
"Hey!" Alice replies, and Malinne keeps her seated by pushing her shoulder down with one hand.
"Lúthien, yes, I did think about that actually. I didn't think he would want to leave. However, I did talk to him today..."
"Oh, you did?" Lúthien asks in a surprised tone. "And what did he say?"
"Well, I wanted to know if there was any way we could send a second boat to the ship..." Malinne begins to explain.
"No, we do not have time for that. Come up with a better suggestion." Is Lúthien's response. She keeps her posture straight and tests Malinne's patience with her arrogance and awaits her answer. "I say we leave this small fry behind and bring Cain instead." she says with a smirk.
Malinne smiles at Lúthien.
"Well, since she is so small, don't you think she could sit in someone's lap?" Malinne suggests.
Lúthien rolls her eyes. "I guess that could work." she responds with a sigh. "We'll have to find Cain now, then."
"He knows we're in the library, perhaps he will stop by. I did let him know I was going to try to compromise with you and that we were going to meet in the library this evening..." Malinne says. "Have a seat Lúthien. Tells us about yourself as we wait." she says as she gestures for Lúthien to sit in the seat just across from her.

Malinne and Lúthien both stop talking and glance at Alice.
"What are you writing?" Lúthien asks.
Alice scrambles to roll up the parchment and stand up from the table. "Nothing, I'm just going to post this on the wall really quick." she says as she quickly exits the library.
"Hmm..." Malinne says. "She can be pretty silly at times."
Lúthien nods.
"I'm going to find out what it is. I guess I can never grow out of my curiosity. Besides, I should find out what the news is before I go." Malinne explains and casually leaves Lúthien in the library by herself.

"So who's going to wait for Cain?" Lúthien shouts just after Malinne leaves. After not getting a response Lúthien sits back in her chair and folds her arms impatiently. "Great, Just great! I'm stuck here with nothing to do and they're off doing who knows what... Stupid sentimental beings..."
"It's not about sentimentality!" Lúthien hears Malinne shout from somewhere in the distance.
"How could could you hear me?" Lúthien asks realizing she wouldn't get an answer. "Anything for the captain..." Lúthien mumbles to herself and decides to look through the same book of dragons still lying on the table. She shakes her head as she looks at the pictures.
After a long silence Lúthien sighs and puts the book down. Elbows on the table she decides to rest her head in her hands and dozes off sitting up.

K. seems to quickly appear out of nowhere, behind Malinne, and looks at her back as she is walking away from him fast. He doesn't make a single sound, so she does not hear him. He puts his head down, but still follows her with his eyes, leaning on a building's corner.
"Malinne... May the world itself protect you, my lady..."
"Malinne... May the world itself protect you, my lady..."
Malinne returns to the library where Lúthien is sound asleep at the table with her back turned to her. Malinne quietly sits down in her spot and waits for Alice to return.
She returns about a minute after Malinne takes her seat. Alice sits down next to Malinne and picks up the book about dragons again.
"I'm bored." she announces in a lowered voice to Malinne so not to disturb Lúthien. Malinne just looks at her and shrugs.
"What do you want me to do about it?" Malinne asks Alice.
Alice shrugs and stands to put the book back where it belongs. After she sits back down she puts her head down on the table and falls fast asleep. Malinne decides to get up and walk around the library glancing through books she is unfamiliar with, which is few. She spends the whole night walking around, waiting for the sunrise or Cain, whichever is to come first.
((did anybody else notice she used "hear" when she should have used "here" in the title of this topic? just wondering...))

Walks by her with his friend and says "I told you we should have never signed up in the army." sighs and sits down.
His friend says "Why, whats gonna happen?"
Looks at him "You know damn well!"
About to cry says "It wasnt our fault the guy was experienced, at least we took him"
Still looks at him "John is dead, maybe your next or even me!"
Gets a book "Calm down, next time no one will die"
"How would you know?"

Lúthien wakes up and looks at Cain.
"Ah, you're here. We've been waiting for a while now." she says in a sleepy voice. "Hmm... it's morning already. I guess we could leave tonight."
Malinne, who had been upstairs walks down the stairs to join them.
"Hello, Cain." Malinne says as she tucks some books away into the shelves. Alice is sound asleep in her chair, completely unaware of what is going on.
"Anyways, you are coming along with us then. Alice is so small that we could actually fit another, decent sized person into the boat." Lúthien explains with a smirk. "She will just have to sit in someone's lap." she says as she looks at Malinne. "She can sit with Malinne."
Malinne shrugs.
"Of course, if everyone is ready now we can leave as soon as possible... a few minutes perhaps?" Lúthien suggests and glances at Alice. She walks slowly over to the sleeping girl and practically shouts in her ear, "What do you think, Alice?"
Alice sits up in her seat abruptly and nearly falls over. Cain, Malinne and Lúthien smile in amusement.
"Oh, hi Cain." Alice says with a smile as she rubs the sleep from her eyes. "How are you? Are we leaving yet?" she looks at Malinne and then to Lúthien.
"That depends on if we're ready." Lúthien answers.
"Moo is ready!" Alice says cheerfully. "I don't have much to bring with me. Just some money to buy food wherever we go."
Malinne nods. "I spent part of the night packing my weapons and armor. Plus I have enough ingots to last us a while... I'm ready to go as well."
Lúthien looks at Cain.

Cain nods.
"I, too, am ready. It will be much easier to part without goodbyes, than with." He states plainly. "I have all I need with me." Cain reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small necklace charm. He ties it around his neck and nods affirmingly. "This pendant is the one I wore every day I was on that ship... Anyways, let us go swiftly."
