Quivers or something
Alright, I performed a quick search to see if this had been proposed before, but turned up with nothing. So, here is my proposal.
I have noticed that while equipping a crossbow and bolts, or a bow and arrows, you are required to hold the arrows/bolts in your shield hand. This, to me, makes little sense, as some carry a maximum of 250 with them. When you think about it, you have to ask yourself, "What person would have a large enough hand to carry 250 arrows/bolts?" My answer is "not many, if anyone at all." I propose that the bag slot on the equipment window also be enabled as a spot for bolts or arrows. This way, it would seem to the player that they are wearing a quiver on their back or something of the like. To me, this makes more sense and would provide a more RP-like setting for the player who does this.
*waits patiently for the criticism*

Yes, a two-handed weapon out of bows and crossbows. I meant to put that in there. It just seems more practical that way, rather than carrying 250 arrows in one hand.. somehow. And I do agree that it is more of a tweak than a "must change." I am aware that it is not vital to the game, or even nearly as important as such things as a new fighting system or skill tweaking of any kind, but it was just a thought to consider for the future I suppose.

were you suggesting that a new item be made called a quiver, because what it sounded like to me was you just put the arrows and bolts in the slot as the quiver?
It would be awesome to have a quiver to where you could hold alot of arrows and bolts and then make bows and crossbows two handed. I think that would be pretty cool. And yes, it would give tailors another item to make.
The thing is though, would you make it to where you cant hold a bag or box and you couldnt hold any extra items besides the six slots below the playing screen? or could you hold some stuff in with the arrows and bolts? It would not make sense to be able to carry more stuff along with the arrows and bolts, but only being able to carry six items would make it tough.
But, that could be a good thing concerning Rangers with bow/crossbow could just snipe everybody. Do you think they should/would be able to carry extra things?
I have never really held arrows and bolts in the game before so I dont know if they are heavy or not leaving me clueless on how many you could hold.

Well, I have heard it talked about, but never actually "proposed" to the boards....
I think that you should be able to have an extra slot for your "back" and be able to right click on the quiver. And it, just like a bag, could open. But, you couldn't be able to carry any other items, i dont think, as that would be slightly defeating the "cool" purpose of a quiver.
Alun Terod, i think that your idea is good. I can see, however, as that may be a bit hard for the GM'S to make...
@Gerard:
...anyhow....
I guess you are saying that there should be a maximum of arrows the quiver should hold?
yes....that would be more...real. Although, 250 does sound reasonable. but when you think about it....your bag can hold lots of battle axes, so, i guess size and space isnt a big issue currently.....heh.
Great idea!

Gerard, the arrows/crossbows are relatively light. Crossbows are a bit heavier than arrows i do believe, and arrows do travel farther with the potion, which makes me think that arrows are better!Gerard wrote:I have never really held arrows and bolts in the game before so I dont know if they are heavy or not leaving me clueless on how many you could hold

I thought that at first too, Aradhul. But I decided against proposing that part when I thought that a quiver AND a bag on someone's back would be a bit encumbering, along with annoying. The bags would sling around as you walked or ran and smack into your back and each other, possibly knocking things free from your bag. There would be a fair amount of things that could happen with two things on your back.

Although I like the idea in theory, i think that how it works now is good enough. As it is bow and crossbows are already two handed weapons as when you put arrows/bolts into you shield slot in my mind it is like having them at the ready in say a quiver.
And it was said that wearing a quiver and a backpack would be a little cumversome, and i agree, if one were wearing a quiver on there back, but i don't see why someone can't wear it or something similar on their hip to hold arrows (a little unethical maybe, but it would work).
The reason why I am against this is I think it would be annoying not being able to have a bag when wanting to use arrows, because you might want to switch between sword and bow and some point without going to a depot and if you are hunting six slots isn't enough to hold a few nessesary objects (such as hammer, shovel maybe) and what you find on your trip and maybe a sword and shield.
