Smoke cloud

Post by Gerard Hugh »

I propose that there should be a special flame that you could cast that would be very similar to the other three flames except that it would block your line of sight. It would be like a smoke cloud. You could use it in between you and your enemy so they couldnt cast spells on you, throw items at you ((maybe if later they had items that would hurt by throwing them at people)), and attacking with ranged attacks or just two spaced away attacks, or more things that I cant think of right now. And sure! They could just walk through the flame and then have a good line of sight to you, but it would be annoying for him to walk through, including making him take damage, and it would give you a chance to run away from him. That is just a thought I recently came up with.

Me being a mage, I like the idea. But it also adds one other thing, people casting it in town and blocking the line of sight up.

Its the same thing as being able to turn grassland into farmland. People will abuse it and then everything will be messed up.

Even with a police force, it would not stop people. People do not consider how characters would react in REAL LIFE because in their minds it is a game. The only people who do things like casting on depots, setting entire buildings on fire, etc. are the people who somehow slipped through the system and simply need to be weeded out; plain and simple. There is nothing a police force can really do about situations like this. The best we can hope for a police system is that they will be able to take down the super-aggressive evil battlemage halflings and such.

I am willing to assassinate people. It would be a pleasure. Just kidding, but something needs to be done.

I dont see how having a flame like this would be any different than the other flames when it comes to people casting it in town. There are rules against that, and if people do slip up, they will pay the consequences. Now that we have the trials, people cant do that as much and get away with it. Sure, people could take advantage of it, but its just as easy as taking advantage of the flames we have now, and I dont think we are having huge problems with that right now. In fact, I dont think we have had much trouble at all recently. Im sure we have had trouble in the past, and Im sure somewhere in the future (( if they use this idea)) that people will abuse this too. But we will get over it, because it wont be a huge problem. I still think having a flame that blocks line of sight would be awesome to have in illarion.

Please consider my suggestion....

Hey! i take that offensively! The halflings of the Evergreeen are not super-aggressive evil battlemage halflings. And, further more, there are very few halflings that are not part of the evergreen. We havent done anything
"super-aggressively" since the last "war" with darlok!

That was over a century ago! Now please. we are trying to get a better non-super-aggressive evil battlemage halflings reputation, and this isnt helping. WE havent done anything, so lay off!

*cools down* there we go.

Hello Gerard,

your Topic seems to be confusingly out of Hand.
But anyway i have some Questions concerning your Spell:

What makes this Spell so different from those we already got?

Your Spell (as far as i understand):
- blocks Sight
- causes Damage when crossed

Field/Flame Spells we currendly have:
- (should/supposly will) block Sight
- causes Damage when crossed

Can you point out what your Spells makes unique?
And maybe you wirte a short Summary, because this "Side Discussion" about Halfings RP is very irritating.
Thanks

The flames we have now do not block line of sight. If they did, you wouldnt be able to see the other people behind it.

... (should/supposly will) ...

As far as i know, we dont have a working Line of Sight System yet.
(Of course i could be wrong with that.)
And i dont think that you are able to see through a huge Flame, regadless of what the Flame is made of.
So i think our current Spells will get this Feature if it becomes possible, but nothingless its a valid Proposal.

are you sure, I was not aware of this and I have read many things about things to come wwith the game. you may be right. I am not sure. If so, sorry to bring up such a useless proposal.

I dont know if the current spells are "finished" with thier Effects or not.
Maybe a "Cloud Spell" will come with the sole Effect to cover your Movements and without dealing Harm to the Target.

I hope they are not finished yet with the spells, they are kind of boring right now.

Oh, you mean special new graphics for the spells. I thought you meant new spells in general. yeah, It would be nice to have really cool graphics for spells. We do have good graphics right now in my point of view, we are just new to them and we dont think they are special. Graphics will change in time.
