Please whisper OOC

Post by Ellaron »

If you have / need to speak OOC please remember to whisper it. It may surprise you but saying ((dude that sucks)) and ((brb)) for all to hear is irritating. Putting it in double brackets just makes it even more noticeable. If you're whispering OOC then by all means use (()) to make it clear you are not IC. I don't want to come over all hardcore, because I'm not by any description, but it doesn't half jerk you back into the real world and out of the mood.

I don't find it irritating if people just say something like (( BRB )) to a big group, but if they talk OOC for ages it gets REALLY irritating.

Accidentally shouting is bad for playing truth or dare :D and then it gets hard to rp out of, I mean, you dont accidentally shout in real life i guess. I agree with Rynt that saying brb is okay, because at least then the people there will be able to tell people while you arent replying to someone. Then again, there is always the bastard who will push you into the forest

Hmm I think I might contribute to the whisper problem everyday around 9 PM PST. I will whisper more often ;)

What if the person you want to say somthing ooc to is far away? say for instance correcting someone ooc for an IC matter. maybe they are a thief and you wont be able to get close enough to whisper to them

Also, does anyone else hate it when you know someone plays two characters? i think it really stops you being able to interact with that character in the same war as you would if you didnt know.. :D

Vindigan, I can't think of an example of what you say about OOC correcting IC but I'm sure there is one, it's just my limited brain power  . I was thinking more along the lines of general chat.

Amen to this...PLEASE, PLEASE if you are going to speak a lot of OOC whisper and put it in double brackets...it gets really irritating when someone is IC and there are a bunch of words like "dude" "lol" popping up out of nowhere.
Btw: You shouldn't talk too much OOC in illarion anyways, as it is for RP...if you want to have OOC conversations why not go to a chat channel?

Elarilith, we poor saps with simple dialups can't run a chat program in the background as Illarion kicks us off for being too poor to afford a proper fat pipe connection  . This is fair enough in that you don't want one person slowing it down for all the rest. There are times though, when you like to have just a quick OOC chat with someone. I know it's wrong but most of us do it. I'm not saying don't do it I'm just asking for people to consider others.

I know what you mean Ellaron, I have one of the slowest connections in history. :P
But what I am saying is that long OOC conversations should be kept to a minimum...the occasional OOC word of course is fine.
