After the meeting in Galmair, Deanna quickly retreated to Runewick. The mood she encountered there was too hostile for her, with few exceptions. The Allies presented themselves from constant whispering with glances directed at her, to insidious hints about the actions in front of Runewick.
She reread the notes she took from Orren's report after his participation in the former Cadomyr meeting. She herself could not attend this meeting.
Orren told her of the obscure plans of a cheeky Orcess, which were much talked about, the collection of materials from all realms, and the usual abuse of Runewick. He reported nothing of confirmed commitments or a certain number of gems to be delivered. However, if Oxiana's plan was to embarrass her in Galmair, he succeeded. How could she form an alliance with such people? She looked around the deserted city. And how was she supposed to get the desired number of Runewicker gems together anyway? Of the few citizens she sensed no real initiative as far as the city was concerned, they were all busy with their own ego. It was time to make a decision.
