Moonwalker..?

Post by Mirai Belisai »

Gava Northstar hat a fairly boring job.
just the occasional miner or fisherman passing through.
Even on MAS there didn't happen all that much on this side of Galmair.

But yet things got weird at times.
Last night was one of these. Since when did people go wandering in the middle of the night and with just a nightgown on!
And that one didnt even give so much as a nod, lest a greeting. Just a strange empty look.
She was not sure who it was - that rather ghostly person, just that there was something familiar.
But of course it had been dark and the features were not that clearly seen.
What next? A dwarf flying by on his way to the mines, now that would be something.
Or this renegade fanatic in a fancy dancing dress.

A few days later in the night of Elos 19th an elfess is seen carrying several buckets with water into the hospital and building a strange pyramid from them beside her bed.
She did not look sick exactly, just starved. Why then would she make her home in the hospital then. But since Mas was over and this place less frequented few took care.

She woke again, and it was.... not in some strange place but her bed.
The buckets were still there, though one must have got a push.
At least he lay besides the others, its content spilled.

She felt good, kind of energized, the hunger also gone.
Things had to be well again and so it was the logical thing to continue her studies.
Shrinking things.. or creatures. After all the studies she would proceed to experiment.
A rabbit maybe.. or a rat.. and later something bigger more demanding if things went well.

She dressed and left the hospital.
Hopefully she did not need to come back...

The Hospital seemed to be quite frequented lately, a passerby may have noticed.
All was quite though as usuall.
But the arose quite a rucus, some orcish squealing, some rumbling and turning tables and a screech for help.
it was rumored later, that the hand was lieing over an elfess, pressing her into a bed - her desperatly fighting against this.

Him beeing the Hand no-one even thought about to interfere.

Later the same one was seen carrying said elfess - seemingly unconscious - out of the hospital into one of the lower caves,
beeing followed by another elfess, that was seen frequently in the hospital lately.

Days passed without notice. She did not really know which date was the current one and could only guess what time of day it was. The people living down here, most of them dwarfs, where notorious in coming and leaving at any time of day and night. And to be true she also did not really care. The Hand appeared from time to time, providing some food and test objects for her magic experiments - usually some rabbits. Additionally Yridia also showed up from time to time to make sure she was well.
It was most pleasant to have someone with education to talk to.

Apart from that the books provided by the hand proved most interesting. Some of them were somewhat of the track... and surely nothing that a normal student could get his hands on in Lor Angur. And the side notes Kyre had left in some of them were most enlightening.
So finally she did not need a teacher in this field of magic any more, even thought it would have made things much easier. Kyre had denied her... but still she would eventually master this art, she was sure of that.
Some of her experiments had proven quite successful. Some of her pets she had to dispose in the sewers and a miniature rabbit must have escaped through a mouse hole.
But slowly she got tired of the ambient light and yearned for the sun. Study was a wonderful thing, but real practice was so much more fulfilling. So she would need to urge Yridia to get further with that plan of hers.

The witch never missed anything in Galmair but her daughters and some of her possessions. The books and arcane scrolls were brought over from Tol Vanima right before the island sank. Remembering the harrowing journey at the partially water filled dungeon below Tol, Kyre swam in some places, climbing on rocks in other areas, to attempt to gather the precious books. Worried she couldn't open the secret place past the screen yet finally managing after a few attempts, she was frustrated she couldn't carry them all as bag and arms filled with scrolls and books while water threatened to claim her forever.

Leaving the island, she made an effort to dry what she could yet having to throw some away. Gazing at what was left, Kyre gently turned some pages excited to see an occasional ancient rune. Surprisingly they had their own protections in the form of rashes, irritations, eating disorders along with some hair loss among other ailments! Chuckling the witch wrote on some pages a warning to avoid them.. placing little notices on the edges informing her daughters which ones weren't safe to touch.

Being a little worried someone would get an even worse reaction, Kyre added a light protection on the front in the form of a minor hex with a drop of blood. Sadly her books and scrolls were left when she woke for the second time from Nargun's help. Not remembering anything until too late as she made her way to Runewick with Caswir made her sigh with longing however, she was much happier now and hoped whomever picked up the books wouldn't open yet definitely not turn the pages and touch some where her writing was.

Perhaps some day the books might be returned.

The melt, Illarion was finally beginning to feel like Gobaith again. Say what you will, Gobaithians- Gobians, Gobaithens, whatever you want to call them- carried hope like Gypsies. You never knew what to anticipate from one of those islanders, but you could be damn sure, nine outta ten, had the stars on their side. They rose quicker than weeds when Illarion welcomed them in, took to the lands like birds in flight. More varied than the three-headed factions could ever fathom.

A hope for this, a hope for that, times were a changing. The melt bubbled like sweet perfume to a man like Eli. Trolls Bane, Trolls Bane, Trolls Bane- the deeds and doings were being carried on by bigger minds than the world could contain. The melt was a boil, bone on bone, churned by friction- clashing ideas, heated debate. New minds forged their own way, convention was there to be tampered with and tested.

Oh, the melt was often too much for anyone to handle, especially, a man like Eli. He loved people, hated to see anyone in need, but could an old man like him keep pace? Is a friend to all really none in too many pieces?

The melt had cost a man a family, blinded a fool to bleed for others on the edge of no where. A hot melt eats people up like goblins and whose left thinking they are the cream that rose or the fodder from the ashes? Gobaithians- Gobians, Gobaithens, whatever they are be assured, they’ll be present and accounted for in spades.

She paced restless around the well.
The constant darkness was boring and that recurring itch was annoying.
Most likely an effect of the missing sunlight and the stagnant air.
She had ventured out a bit, talked to someone and had taken a some fresh air,
but then she had nearly lost control and had to collect all her will to get down without drifting away again.
Studies went fairly well. Just these hints and comments on some of the pages were strange.
But nothing she could not handle of course.
She continued pacing scratching her arms unconsciously.

He had walked her down to the well the day before tied in ropes, seemingly out of focus with the reality around her, a suspect in a crime she had no idea about.
The well seemed to give her energy somehow and with time she regained her consciousness and focus.
He untied her ropes, sat down in a chair waiting.
She asked him suddenly if he can catch some rabbits. He agreed, he didn't ask questions. Later on he would wonder why she needed rabbits.

The next day he decided to catch some rabbits and bring them to her, he went down to the well again bringing with him five living rabbits...

She was so tired of the dark...

Inara had given her the hint to write a letter to the Hempty so that it might be passed on to the druid.

The last days had been interesting though and satisfying to a degree.
The imp had been most ... entertaining and had brought back a smile long lost to her face.
Of course she had complied with the hand to try a ritual to remove this curse.
But the magic from the books was still not familiar with her and so she had to trust in what she could make out of the symbols and sidenotes.
In the end the ritual did not seem to work, still she was exhausted and had to retreat to her place of rest.

Did those side notes lead into the right direction? or were they misleading.. maybe even there to invert the effect?
Or was she simply to weakened by her affliction? And that itch surly was not helping.
She did not really care for what became of the imp, but still she was not completly unmoved by what his fate meant to others.

maybe she should not have tried to remove the curse but shift it into another direction...
