Post by Tifa Reth »

Elaralith logged before dieing 3 times now.

First when i attacked her in Fieps in, i hurt her badly and sudenly she was gone. Half on hour later she came back.

Second time just today (1.june) i attacked her and soon before she died she logged. I waited for her but she dont came back, so i logged out waited a bit and really suddenly she came in. I loggend in again and attack her again and she disapears imidiately again!

if you were pk'ing her i dont see anything wrong with it as its an ooc problem. if you have a reason, please say so. you should probobly pm a gamemaster rather than post it.

Yes, I did see Tifa attack Elaralith. Elaralith then logged out. Then around thirty minutes later, Elaralith logged back in. She told me that her computer was really slow, and her connection was bad.

This could be true. However, I'm sure most are going to be a little angry when they attack someone and they that person logs out as soon as thier attacked.

Tifa's reason was about Elaralith being exiled. Because of this, Tifa said she had every right to attack. Tifa also explained that Elaralith had made a lot of rude comments about her.

You should send an email to the violations email address instead of posting here.
And don't let her blame it on a bad connection. She always uses that excuse. It's funny how her connection goes bad every time she is attacked.

Elaralith does not only disappear when you attack her, but always once in a while. So please don't start assuming things you can't prove. Maybe the server log files contain info about people logging and the reasons for it, but none of us can see those, only the staff can.

Elaralith also dissappears every three to five minutes when you talk with her.

Sure, she has a bad connection, but does it take 15-30 minutes to log back in? Whenever she gets disconnected while talking she's usually back in 2-8 minutes.

When i get kicked shortly before loosing a Fight, than i fully understand that someone dont log back in imediatly.
I am also not always in the Mood to log back just to get killed, float to the Cross and than log out again.

well, I never want to die...butmif it is going to happen I accept it...If you play this game you are obligated to play it as real as possible...if that means logging in knowing you will die instantly, so be it

I´ve got a bad connection too . And yes , it takes me also sometimes 15-30 minutes to log in back . And how Darlok already said : You´re not in the mood to log in only to be killed and then float to the cross .

i agree with arkadia, if you get kicked, log back in and die. Everyone hates losing skill, but its no reason to log off. im sure most agree its much to hard to gain skill and encourages powergaming, but, unfortunately i think it was bror, they don't want any mastersmiths in a day.

Remembering back the Days when i used to play Illarion via a Dial-up Connection it was nearly impossible to reconnect to the Internet and the Illarion Server withhin Minutes.
If the Connection is lost, i sometimes cost me Hours of Tries to get back online.
It is pure Opimisim to say "Log back in when you are Kicked", mostly its impossible with a bad Connection, even if you want.

fortunately i have cable, and generally if im kicked its cause my internet is down for about 5min- few hours. Technical problems can't be helped, I understand that, but sometimes people just don't want to lose skill.

I know she has problems with connection, and the bad computer allways crash down when she nearly dies?
Yes it maybe took some while to log in again, but i logged off and only a few moments afters she came back. And when i come back and attacked her she logged off again. So is this allways an accident?

In this game you have to accept too if you die, i dont log off in a battle if i lose, and i think it is very low roleplay if you do so.

I remember I was farming by the tavern and it just so happened one of the GM's decided to attack that area with spiders, I was ill equipped to deal with the matter and I died, so yeah, if you die get over it.

PS: To the GM, thanks very much :P

The problem with a bad connection is, in a battle you have no chance.

In a fight there are so many acts quickly and often and this form a big lagg. So you experience every action extremly delayed, so you can´t do anything because you see it first when all is over. Or you got kicked.

And it is very annoying to lose every fight, because of an OOC problem, and here i can understand when the person log off.

Hello,
Here are the facts:
1. I have dial-up and my connection is horrible
2. My computer is ancient and crashes frequently
3. I don't choose to log off, my computer disconnects me
4. I hate this as much as anyone else would, but I can't help it...in good conversations I get kicked and I am disconnected from illarion even more in such circumstances as fighting, magic casting, people spamming (all those things cause more lag for my poor computer and kills it temporarily)

@Korwin Yes, usually when I am lucky after my computer crashes I get on in a few minutes. But no, I am not always so lucky. And yes, I have RL problems I must deal with too and I cannot always immediately go and fix my computer every time it chooses to crash....as well of course sometimes it takes much more time than regular to actually get my computer back up and running...

As well, as others have already mentioned: It is bad when your computer crashes when someone is trying to kill you because when you log back in you are at a disadvantage...your would-be killer has all the time to prepare for your return and kill you very easily even if they would not be able to kill you normally. That is terrible, and I agree that it is highly understandable for people whose computers crash in a fight that they don't log in immediately after.

As a sidenote: I have a bad connection and frustrating computer that cuts me from illarion frequently, what to do? I have chosen to RP this to the best of my ability as is appropriate for my character who is a magic-user...I urge that others of you who also have technical problems to make the best of it and create some good roleplay out of it!

My suggestion would be, if you tend to log out whenever combat happens, not to piss people off so they want to kill you. Then you won't get lagged out, which puts you at the advantage of pissing someone off but not dying from them trying to kill you becuase you lagged out.
