Lyrenzia Foundation: Change in the judicial system

Post by Lyrenzia Foundation »

Change in the Judicial System

The following parts has changed. The change is valid with this public statement and concern all running and future trials.

Procedural Details after an accused is found guilty:
  • The punishment "Exile" will be removed from our judicial system.
  • When the Guilty verdict is delivered to a crime, the accused will be put into prison by a councilor of Lyrenzia.
  • When the Guitly verdict is delivered to a "stealing" type crime where payment is necessary to the victim, the accused will have 3 days to pay back the victim, or make arrangements with victim for later payment, or pay to Lyrenzia first if he can't find the victim.
Payments and arrangments must be confirmed by a Lyrenzia Councilor.
If payment or arrangements are not made until 3 days, then the accused will be thrown into prison, until arrangements are made.
After payments or arrangements are made, the same procedures of prison as described above will follow.
---

After studying the laws laid by Lyrenzia, Arkadia laughs when coming across a final endnote to their scrolls.
"Prison time can be cancelled with payment to the Lyrenzia Foundation at a rate of 10 silver ingots for every hour of prison."
Laws are like spider webs.....they catch the flies but the wasps and hornets fly right through.....the rich always get away with everything.

The old dwarf watches Arkadia and laughs at her foolishness

Was it not long ago that some people said that prison time does not benefit the victims or the people? I can't be sure who will be those convicted and what type of punishment to be worse, but I do know that one method brings in revenues while the other method has more expenses.
To me, it seems that both are propotionally costly to the criminal, but only the latter brings in money.
And then what do you think the money will be spent on?
Do you think prison guards and construction workers will work without salary?
The young are always so foolish and see no farther than the tip of their noses...

Yes, Arkadia, you should know that the construction workers will not work without a salary, but most importantly, you should know that the Council of Lyrenzia will not work without a salary. They need money as well don't you see? So buying them off always works.

We do this out of the kindness of our hearts, Grant. There has not even been a discussion about salary for the councilors. We don't get paid, believe or not.

Well, we aren't getting or going to get paid, so you can stop whining about it before you even start.

Now now Fooser, making stupid outburst like that make us like dumb. Really, if you would tell the people of Trollsbane what you are doing with the money you receive then maybe we would trust you more. But you seem to keep us in the dark until you are ready to do what you want to do and then you throw it in our face and make us accept it.

Alright Grant,
They were successful.....in turning the town into a hazard place, and caging people in with a wall

Dear Fooser and Grant Herion

Perhaps we will use the money we gain from this (if we gain anything) to give it to the victims of a crime.
Like we proposed it to Morgaine Le Fay and to others, whom Dunthor has stolen things and as he was catched, nothing more was found at him.
This was at the time from our own cash. By having a small stock, we needn't do it from our own money.

Arkadia spits on the parchment and walks away
The stranger reads these words, and lowers his head, shaking it calmly and pessimistically as if he was dissapointed in something. His thoughts quickly transform into handwriting, as another note appears, right on top of Arkadia Misella' statement:

The picture of saddness and doom. One cannot run away from it. The society creates its own heroes and legends. The brave warrior with a magical sword is long gone, no one likes to hear Legends of the West about the great and horrible Diablo and the fighters of Good... They are gone into the past. Today people have a new weapon,a new hero - money.
...
They never learn. What can be more precious than life? Today the question sound like this: What can be more expensive then life? Ironically, life is exactly what is on sale here. How much money are you willing to pay to save your life? How much money an arrow pointed at you is willing to accept?
Never confuse wealth with wisdom.

The Stranger gets closer to the wall, and uses the sleeve of his overcoat to wipe out Arkadia's spit. He walks off unseen.
