Re: Update 17th April / Update 17. April
I dislike this change a lot, since I actually had a reason to wear a dress and hat now.Mages who attack with wands no longer have an attack reduction if wearing armour.
You will probably tell me now that stuff will grant a bonus on magic in the future... but in fact you just made dresses and hats useless for another year.
Re: Update 17th April / Update 17. April
Anyone has a choice, you can always go without armor as some characters do anyway. Love the food fix and books, thanks!
Re: Update 17th April / Update 17. April
Agreed. There should be rings, amulets what would work like armors (only for mages).Rincewind wrote:I dislike this change a lot, since I actually had a reason to wear a dress and hat now.Mages who attack with wands no longer have an attack reduction if wearing armour.

Hooray! Battle mages are a viable play style again! (maybe?)
Thanks devs. <3

There is a plan for benefits for clothing and jewelry to come with the magic packages. A malus for wearing armour is not part of the magic plan. This is not a punishment but moving things in line with the future plan. Development happens in steps.

This seems like an odd choice - Is it because there was no other fitting category?Egg salad can be found in the soups category of the crafting menu.
Re: Update 17th April / Update 17. April
It is because its made in a bowl. All the category 'dishes' take a plate and all the 'soups' bowls. That was the reason for the change.rakust dorenstkzul wrote:This seems like an odd choice - Is it because there was no other fitting category?Egg salad can be found in the soups category of the crafting menu.

I can rename the category that uses bowls, given a proper proposal. Bowl dishes sounds odd .

I like this update, especially the mage-related points!
I have to say I disagree with the complaints about mages being able to wear armor properly. The only basis seems to be that it discourages the constant use of robes etc. Mages aren't expected to wear armor at all times are they? If they want to look flashy without immersion-breaking armor, perhaps they should invest in really good non-obvious armor (shoes, trousers and gloves) and put a ton of gems in them and/or be more aware of their positioning in battle.

@ S'rrt: there is something like hit-zones right?
Re: Update 17th April / Update 17. April
If you're referring to hit-chances on different body parts, where torso is the highest, that is why it's fairly important to wear armor on your torso. Leaving it out is ill-advised, no matter who you are or what you're trying to do.
At least you can try to make up for it by having beefy leggings, gloves and boots if you're really desperate to just wear a robe all the time instead of switching it out for battle...

Instead of a malus for armour, there'll be a bonus for robes, rings etc.
Mind that wand magic is just a stop gap measure. It is, technically, shooting arrows with different graphics and modified calculations of damage etc. So not too much development effort will be spent to make it perfect. But the magical bonus of robes, rings etc. is part of the magic core scripts we need for real magic. I do not know why it was not implemented for wand magic in first place.
