Jewelled Rings
You can read it in the libary of illarion. With jewels you can make rings and the rings are to save your skills... They do not save your skill complitly but a little bit.
Jewelled Rings
The rings are different strong some are save your skills masterlike other not so.

it is I, Morgaine, goldsmith and always to your duty if you have money enough to pay for the rings. Morgaine laughs.
I can tell you of some gems - the rubyring increases your life status, even if you are hungry, the bluestonering does the same with mana - the diamondring is for mages only, it makes your casting easier or learning the spells (can´t really tell) and the blackstonering is for protection from beeing hit by somebody - it is a very powerful ring (must increase parry)
the other gems... I dont really know, never tried them.
last advice - come to my place buy a ring and try it out yourself, if you don´t find it to your liking you can have another one of the same value to try out. smacc prices here.
Morgaine bows to the audience.

Jewelled Rings
@Morgaine:

just compare it to RL: when you find a ring -- and suppose there exists magic in our common world -- you don't know what it does as well. it's the same here: you'll have to find out what the property of each ring is. of course that's not one of those easy tasks where you just have to look it up in a list, but you'll have to do tricky experiments and so on.
good luck in finding out,

The only clue that has been given that I can remember is that the Ruby Rings increase power. The others have not been said, and are most likely untrue. I believe the purpose for these will be programmed for the next version.
Morgaine le Fay, where do you get the silly idea that ruby rings regenerate your life meter? I have been wearing one for a long time, and not once did my life meter regenerate without food.

But martin, we don't find these rings, we produce them ourselves and still don't know, which effects they have.
Normally, this could mean only one thing: They do nothing at all, because how can we provide an item with something, we don't know of?

my life meter always regenerates (and usually quite slow) just stand still.
Jewelled Rings
i used to wear a ruby ring and i had a good defence and i noticed that when i switched to 2 diamond rings my defence weakened so i am switching back
Jewelled Rings
Your life meter will only regenerate if you have eaten though.

These topics are senseless, there are several theories 'bout the rings and this question is truelly senseless.

wow, I didn't suppose that the rings could be so powerful... I just think that I'll have a try myself.... I always knew that there's something about them!
There is only one question left: What does the crown do?

The crown exists to please vanity...

What are you talking about? First of all, it's been said that skilldrop is somewhat to chance, and the matter of time you spend out of a solid form determines the amount of drop. You are probably getting lucky.
The reason for regeneration is that the food you ate exceeded the end of the bar, so the regeneration properties of the food carried over to the next time you were hurt. Think about that next time you gobble a few too many porkchops (there is a new "you are full" message, or something like that now)
And to the crown: Think about it, who would wear a little band around their head in a battle? Not a very smart one. And vanity? Every person of same race - same gender look exactly the same.
Welcome to the Main board.

to erdrick:
so you call me silly? maybe you should call me naive as well - since my char can smith rings i try to find out what they are there for - I put em on, do some experiment and do that experiment again without that ring, than again with the same ring and then again with some other ring - and what i noticed is what i had written down.
some people say rings do nothing at all - maybe those people are even more silly or do they try to act more realistic? (or they don´t have an eye for slight improvements on their char?)well since we play in a world of magic i suppose that those rings do have some of that magic spirit, too - if you don´t want to believe that it is your own fault - i will keep on doing my experiments so i know what my char is exactly producing when smithing gold rings.
maybe i am wrong when i say the ruby one is regenerating life faster, but at least it gave me that impression - i haven´t yet come to do experiments with the saphir, amethyst and topaz - true enough that i might still recorrect my opinion on some rings - but as i said - that´s the impression diamond, ruby, black- and bluestone had given me so far.

I never called you silly, but I don't think you are listening to me. I've been playing for quite a while, and have played enough to do more than a couple of experiments. Maybe the rings do do something, but I have worn a Rubyring almost the entire time I've played, listening to the advice of the programmers that it gives me power. Not once has my life regenerated without the help of food. And it seems as if it actually gives me power, it is a very minute amount.
