Can we remove the freeze that accompanies a stumble back when our char fights monsters?
A request seems to have turned into a discussion so I thought I would bring the topic here for all to give their opinion, especially those that have fighter chars which may be the majority of the players...

At the very least I think this discussion can help me/others/new players figure out why we have this freeze after a stumble back.. or possibly just get rid of it altogether or decide it is best to keep.
Your opinion and experience would be welcome.

The reason for the freeze (or the falling down) is that both players and monsters are able to finish the knocked down player off in case they choose too. That is the intended design.

Re: Stumble back and freeze opinions
Just clarify again: Removing the freeze/stumble down would mean you die instantly. At once. I fail to see the benefit of such a change.
Re: Stumble back and freeze opinions
It would make little sense in terms of both game logic and realism to remove the knockdown freeze. Not only does it give one opponent their rightful chance to coup de grâce or rope the other, but nobody, NOBODY can act instantly after being knocked down to a barely conscious status.

Although I understand you Achae, I have to agree with the above posts.

Re: Stumble back and freeze opinions
Thanks for the explanation of original intent @Nitram, I didn't actually see the "stumble back" as a knock down but simply a move/push back/stumble back (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/stumble i.e. not always a fall) then add a freeze element to it. You are not only knocked back (this then is roleplayed as a fall I am assuming by some players?) but are frozen for monster bait. @Estralis I am assuming because you are "frozen" to allow attack/"finish the knockdown", the unfreeze at least with monsters would not hinder matters ..this is still considering the stumble back of course.
Roleplay wise in RL even if i Do stumble/fall I don't think I would be someone who would freeze like a deer in the headlights.
I also didn't understand why giving the monster a chance for coup de grace is actually any advantage/fun thing for me as a PO when fighting because naturally the monster will simply move forward a step and when they do my char can't even turn. In PvP however, it gives a thinking opponent an advantage i.e rope, stop fighting or the coup de grace which is why I had simply suggested to remove the freeze for PvE the non-thinking opponent that will automatically take the step forward.

In game you stumble because you possibly suffer several bleeding wounds. You can't move because of pain or broken things in your body, whatever. To RP it like stumbling over an edge seems not accurate to me.Roleplay wise in RL even if i Do stumble/fall I don't think I would be someone who would freeze like a deer in the headlights.
Also, the stumble back with Monsters gives, your teammates still a chance to save your butt. So I tend to say this is a very positive feature. Since Illarion is ment to be played in a team.

Also I don't see the benefit of removing it from PvE yet.
The only thing I dislike is that one can't drink a potion in this very critical moment. I died to often rapidly clicking on my potion, without any effect. On the other hand... it owuld be anoying if someone I knocked on his arse would just drink a potion and run away... so I at the end I vote for keeping status Q.
