Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
I'm sorry, but this will be in german, but I can give you a short summary in english:
what do you think about having not magical depots (means you can only reach them in this spot) in the flats and appartments? just for putting rp related stuff in it...like food, drinks, clothes...and whatever you need in a flat? So it does not have to be very large (maybe 10-15 slots in a flat and as many slots as in a basket in a villa)
You could use shelves as well instead of a depot
I just wanted to ask you for a feedback to this, before we'll ask for it on Mantis

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
Loose translation:
How would it be if a kind of chest was installed in flats and houses? The idea behind it is that you would typically have many of your personal belongings inside of your home. For example, if one wishes to change their clothes inside their house, they usually must run to the depot, grab the garments, and then run back to their house to change. Having these chests inside of homes would make it easier, but also help with RP. Of course, they wouldn't be chests that would teleport your items from one to another, therefore making those items stay in a fixed place. This would also work for food. It can get obnoxious to have to constantly leave your house or flat to go get necessary items for RP inside your home.
Also, the size of the chest could be delegated according to the size of the home. For example, villas could have an actual chest, homes a basket, and flats a bag with 10-15 spots available, therefore coordinating with the amount people pay for their living space. This would really benefit RP because players would be able to directly keep items in their home and wouldn't have to emote something along the lines of "#me takes something from the shelf instead of running outside to the depot."
Another idea would be cabinets, which would achieve the same effect.

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
Thank you very much

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
I like it as a money sink and also to encourage people to rent flats and homes and keep them. Roleplay wise it makes sense not to have to run to the depot to change clothes also.
Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
An additional depot which is only accessable by owning the key to a door should drastically increase the price of the flat. I am not sure that the players would be happy with that. So: It should be only an add on a player can decide to have or not.
However, currently, that is no really doable. Therefore we should wait, until we have a proper rent system that can handle such add ons.

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
i dont realy see your point. why should flats be more expensiv, if you add such a box? what should be the advantage of such a depot in a flat, which someone misses, because he have no flat? i realy dont can imagine me, that someone get some disadvantages, if flat owners get such boxes.Jupiter wrote:An additional depot which is only accessable by owning the key to a door should drastically increase the price of the flat. Those boxes arent meant as an additional storage. They shouldnt be connected to the existing town boxes. And those boxes are to far away from any workshop, mines and whatever, to be an advantage for any crafter.
The existing townboxes are enough big to storage stuff. I realy cant imagine, that anyone needs more room to storage stuff.
The only advantage of such a box, is to have rp relatet stuff in a flat. Stuff you need in a flat for rp situations. Its absurd, that a char have to run from his home to any box to get his clothes, only for changing them after again in his flat. Or to run to a box to get food and drinks for his guest in his flat.
The owner of a flat already pays for his home, so this price should include a storage place. Because this storage place he would not need, if he wouldnt have a flat.
Those flat boxes dont need to be big, just big enough to hold food, drinks and clothes. Maybe you could restrict the weight such a box can hold, if you still fear, someone misuse them as an additional storage box.
At my oppinion, those boxes shouldnt be add ons. Every flat could get one. So its not that intricatet, like put individual boxes in flats.
Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
I think the proposal isnt really about placing a depot (321) inside the flats.
Rather changing most or all of the following items to have Permanent unlinked storable space in them

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
Its better to provide an option in one of the GM's tools to provide/activate storage spaces in to the above list of items.
This way these items could also be used as decorations without fear of people misusing them.
There can be an one-time "moving price for bringing furniture" to the flats/villas. this way Players can decide what they want in their rooms and also GMs can regulate the items too.
Addition to proposal:
Allow shelves as static tool with quill to create personal books.
Also provide GMs tool in this case too to activate and regulate to avoid misuse.
Optional Money sink: For anyone to provide books for public library.
But this should be for free in their housing though.
RP-wise would anyone pay for keeping books in their own shelves inside their house?

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
That is your intended use of those boxes. That does not mean that noone will use them in any other way.Erin wrote:The only advantage of such a box, is to have rp relatet stuff in a flat.
Example: A character who is a cook and farmer owns a flat that is a lot closer to a field and a fire place. The chest in his flat would make it a lot easier for him to gow vegetables and to cook. In other words: The flat helps him to generat value, i.e. coins.
Chests are placed according to certain considerations. Private chests have the possibility to spoil that.

Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
We can consider this proposal once we think about a new housing/renting/building system. But for now, private depots/storages have no priority and the benefit of them is too low to overcome the negative aspect of weakening hot spots of towns. Keep in mind this game is about player interaction, hence, everything that harms this goal needs very good reasons to get implemented.
Re: Truhen in Häusern//depot in houses
How about limiting the usage of storage to finished/ crafted items only.
No resources/ tools can be stored in the space. Is this possible?
like equipping slots in body.
Barrels can be used to store drinks; Chest for food. Cabinets for dress.
i think this would defeat any misusing if this is possible.

Very likely not. Even if it was: That is awkwardMr.Oldie wrote:How about limiting the usage of storage to finished/ crafted items only.

Re: "Fruit basket"
Instead writing about "lock" / "unlock" FEATURES (available to players) beeing added to (right now cosmetic) containers/objects used to stash dusty crap away from sight,
i propose the use of "rot-denial" floor tiles and/or objects.
The tile/object (ex.table) disables rotting for the visibly placed object upon it.
Only one item/stack may be placed upon such a tile or object. May it be a bag, trout or 1k grain bundles. ((EDIT: Remove "bag" here;))
To avoid drag-drop failures (or exploitation) the tile/object could be accessed via double clicking, showing a small interface window with one (or more) inventory slot (-s).
A way to prevent strangers from using the system, the denial tiles/objects might be accessed by the key of the flat.
EVERY flat might contain at least one "rot-denial" tile/object, from the start. =>The bigger the flat, the more according spaces would be present.
Additional ones could be purchased for any flat.
The idea of hotspots for player interaction would still be affected by that, probably too much.
So how about disabling bags/containers beeing dropped (by player) to the denial space? This would reduce the dev workload on restricted item classes to portable containers.
This way any flat owner could cosmetically enhance the flats appearance (a little bit) or make use of its (limited) storage capacity (...maybe even RP-wise..."Maid. Bring she the wine.")
Later on, this development might be base for other systems (containing more complicated restrictive code or graphic display modifiers),
like dynamic book shelves (offering 6 up to 20 slots, books and scrolls only, not visible, shelf graphic changes depending on %age filled or total#),
the notorious flower vase (3 up to 5 slots, herbs only, visible, no stack numbers shown, with an x/y offset generator),
two classes of weapon racks (3 up to 7 slots, either horizontally or vertically arranged, visible, with according offset generators),
the long awaited armor rack (1 slot torso armour only + 1 slot helmet only, visible, y-offset gen.),
an "auctioneers table" ((EDIT: Item description missing)) and finally
the "shoe cabinet +++" (1x8 tiles, up to 240 slots, foot wear only, visible, with a dynamic x/y/z offset generator. Aditionally, our prize winning, sensitively reacting lighting system may be installed for only 10GP extra).
