"General" armor type

hey I just got a drow plate that says its lv 80 general armor type and I appear to be able to use it with only 74 heavy armor, can a dev or experienced player explain this? is it that it is not weak or strong against anything in particular or that someone with max skills in all three armor types can use it to awesomeness? what??

How I got explained this to me was:
It supposedly takes the highest armor skill, in your case I assume its your heavy armor, and uses that to measure. However it seems to be bugged to always showing as white, instead of red when you're not skilled enough.

Then I assume there will be equally "rare" and "hard to get" armor for light and medium armor wearing types? It'd not be very fair if only heavy armor had armor as such, while all light and medium armor could be crafted.

Yes but people will still care since it is a rare, unless you plan on making it craft-able.

We could also think about makign three versions of the drow armour. Same graphics, but different properties.
