Armor - weapon system

most of the players are having dificulty with the armor system..
I know the game isnt supposed to be realistic.. but still a good logic can be applied for the armor -weapon system..

If i try to explain the armor system logically, this would be what i would use...


KEY:
Armor- bad, not so good, good

heavy - Pierce, blunt, slash
Medium- blunt, slash, pierce
Light- slash, pierce, Blunt

Explanation:

heavy should be (ideally worn by blunt weaponers)
bad against pierce.. because the heavier weight makes them slower against stab, thicker plates leaves more vulnerable spots to hit at, under arms and such... archers would be able to take them out before they get near them ;) slower cos of the weight.
not so good against blunt.. because blunt weapons would crack the heavy armor a lil and deal an average damage.. also they would know where to hit(blunt against blunt)
Good against slash.. because slash would just bounce off the plates

Medium should be (ideally worn by slash weaponers)
Bad against blunt..because the armor would "crack" like hell against them
Not so good against slash.. because slash weapons would "crack" the armor but not as much as blunt and deal an average damage.. also they would know where to hit(slash against slash)
Good against pierce.. because being less thicker it covers more vulnerable area leaving less spot to hit with pierce

Light should be (ideally worn by pierce/stabbing weaponers)
bad against slash.. because the sharp edges would just tear them off
Not so good against pierce.. because of sharp edges of arrows/bolts/daggers this will do an average damage.. also they would know where to hit(pierce against pierce)
Good against blunt... because the leather would act as padding and take the most of the effect of the hit away

Ideal weapon/armor combo:
Heavy Armor with Blunt weapon
Medium Armor with Slash weapon
Light Armor with Stab/Pierce weapon

There is not much change to be made.. only in medium and heavy i think.. please consider it.. instead of making people confused :)
i know some would say changing now would be more confusing.. but i think the positives are far more greater here in the long run..
If the prob is with the armor already being chosen now.. you can always given an option to players to change it ones more.. :)

And a kind request to any DEVs who reply to this..
Please dont say bluntly that the fighting system wont be changed anymore :/ that kinda hurts whenever something is proposed *sighs*
A "We'll think on this" would be much better response" :D

i came to decision of proposing this after reading the confusion in this thread :arrow:

i would like to know why this proposal would be neglected if its gonna be..

other than the fact that it would be hard to change now.. ie..
it was hard for the players when the materials for items were changed..
it was hard for the players when the prices of the things were cahnged..
it was hard when levels needed for making thigns were changed..
but people are adapting.. for no reason other than the fact that "because i said so" attitude from DEVs(no offense meant)
change this too cos in the longer run this is better

logically this is the best to explain.. there wont be confusion to new players also..
the current is hard to memorise cos of the clash with logic :/ atleast it is for me..
and even if realism and logic isnt what is aimed in this game.. we should atleast try to stick to something basic like this
all am trying to do is trying to make the system better at the same time some what logically correct too

I am in agreement that this makes more sense but it's the dev's work and I thank them for their time.

hehe i luv them too ... and i do appreciate their work too :) mannn considering the rate at which they bring about the changes and developments i just wanna hug them too :D
but its just that i cant make sense of the current system.. may be if its explained somewhere like how i did here it w can more acceptable

ahh nvm....
its too hard to change now.. since its already implemented.. should've said this before when it was in TS i guess :(
anyways... leave it... just trying to fiind some logic to the system here thats all :)

Okay, three things.

First, the "logic thing". I don't know what you think that logic is. You probably mean it in the colloquially way, which is a rather useless way, because it says nothing more than "I don't like.", in my eyes. I prefer this term not to be used in this way, because it rises a dubious claim to be better because of whatever reasons. A good starting pointing to learn what logic is is this. Or just google "Introduction to logic". There are a lot of universities publishing lectures on this. I myself have only basic knowledge about logic but enough to be bothered when someone uses it completely carelessly.

Second, the new system is there about two days and you come up with a proposal changing it again? How about waiting anf taking a closer look at it? You certainly didn't. You just said "I don't like it. I come up with my own stuff". I for my part had a lot of fun yesterday with some other chars ingame hunting a huge monsters. I haven't had so much fun fighting since ages. And in the end, it is about making fun.

Thrid, I actually haven't read your proposal. Mark the end of your sentences with one period, start sentences with a capital and use some commas here and there. That would make it a lot easier for others to read your posts.

What Jupiter want to say, please try the system first and give our scripters and devs the time to balance it. If you have found concret bugs or disbalnced points of the new figthing system use Mantis to report.

I close this topic to avoid spam, flameware and useless, mostly for devs demotivating discussions
