Me thinks these drow need to stay hidden and quiet before a hunt begins. I do not feel like having my head on a stake at the moment.

Excuse me if I sound arrogant, but what is a drow? I do not believe I have encountered such a .. thing. I know it is a type of elf or something, but I would be grateful if someone could tell me more detail than this.

The Drow are also known as Dark Elves. They are said to be evil and life in the underground.

I am no expert Hermie, I can only tell you what I have heard from over-hearing tavern talk and storys past told to me.

Dark Elves, Drows, Tel' gothrin, Mari' quessir. Call them what you will, tho I should say at your own risk, are Elves despite what some may say. They vary in appearance, the shade of their skin being one of them. They are predominantly a nasty, spiteful and evil race, with the females being considered the stronger and dominant of the sexes.

That is about all I know..say for a few other things that matter not. Tho as you halfings would consider your selves predominantly peacful people..there are some halfings who are anything but. The same is for Drows. Be weary of them but do not attack them on sight, if for your own saftey rather than to be polite and peacful.

If I was you mother Hermi.. the gods bless that I am not. I would say 'keep your distance from them folk, els you may not return home.'

You all are waelas!

you dont know anything about the de'shineth.
i am a drow. but i am not powerful, only intelligent.
and anyway, has a drow ever hurted someone here?
my think is, that the rivvis and the darthiirs and all others just are scared from us. anyway, dont believe anything about us. we are, as nobody could think ,and do, what nobody would do.

True.

Drows in general may be evil, but that does not mean they like to kill people. We have a good temper and rarely gets angry for a bad reason.
So no need to fear drows unless you have hurted someone or something they like.

If Drows are of such a nice temper, rarely loose thir temper and not ones for killing, why do they have such a reputation.

I notice most of the so called Drows posting her about their kinder natured side are male..and thus considerd the weaker and inferiour of the sex in drow society. Now we know why, maybe that is whey they are flocking to the island.

There is one more species of elf..But it has almost died out.

The Grey elf. They prefer not to...associate with other elves. They are quite secretive and shy, and only talk to very few others. Not much else is known.

I do wonder if you realy are a so called Tel' gotherin. I seem to know more about your race then you do. Tho as I have said before, what I know comes from tales, tavern talk and what I hear in the streets, the majority of which all implies that the women are the dominant sex in Drow society, from gender rolls, nobility, serving the your goddess, controling your millitary, courting, family life ect.
In fact I did even read something from a book along the lines of,
'Female clerics of the Lolth dominate males making them subservients, and slaves.'
Tho there are always excpetions to the rule, I am weary about you sir, not for your being a drow..but your lack of it.

I never implied that drows were nice.

Flocking to the island? There have been drows here for as long as I remember.

The other things I won't comment since there seems to be other Drows here having different views of themselfs, and that discussion will only lead to a conflict between ourselfs, no need for that.

There is little reason to believe that Drow are either "nice" or "evil." Even similar to many rivvil, we have our own agendae. At times we are tolerant and at others one may appear nothing more than a mere obstacle. This is the way life has been lived at least on my behalf. As Mishrack pointed out, it seems there are a few half-bloods such as myself who've seemed to overcome their nastier sides. I am, as one may say, just another of such a statistic, though I doubt my "nasty" side will ever fully leave me. Whether it be a desire in being vile, or be it holding up half my heritage, I cannot expect it to leave.

Now to the matter more at hand here...
A Drow guild? Can you honestly say that you believe this a good idea? It is truly pointless in so many ways. We Drow do not congregate and I do not wish to see such an event amongst half my race. 'Twould be disgraceful to see a group of Drow depending on the other for help when many know that Drow are typically "loners" as a rivvil might say it.

To the "Ilythiiri" who claims to be so:
Are you honestly a Drow? Can you seriously say that you are? What in the world are you talking about when you say "no sex is dominating the other?" It is known by all Illythri that the female clerics dominate males, making them basically slaves. I was lucky to escape such fate. Stop being foolish. Either you're a foolish Drow or you're not a Drow at all, but rather an elf with some strange passion towards being Ilythiiri.

elvin it is well known that our race sees females as the predominant sex at least from a social stand point also its best not and label us its like saying that all humans are wonderful and loving which is blatantly not the case trying to classify a race of people is not possible as everyone is individual.

srath

In the shade of the shop roof Drizzt passes the board and looks at the pieces of news. His face colludes itself, when he reads the message of Elvin. Nodding, he agrees to the messages of Zerbus.

His snow-white hair seems silver bluish in the light of the moon. His lavender coloured eyes are the none, which is to be recognized under the dark coat. Memories flow by his thoughts and pain penetrates his heart. He shakes off the black thoughts, takes a piece of pergament and a feather and starts writing:

Vendui ' Elvin!

You should better forget your request. There is already a drow group on Illarion. But this drow bears no other clan in their area. Thus you better hold back quietly and do not be noticeable, otherwise you could become easy a chase...

Believe me, I know what I am talking about - this drow group is very strong! Let the shade of the past behind us and do not walk further on them!

Even ways and a long as well as fulfilled life.
~ no signature ~

Drizzt pulls his coat more deeply over his face and disappears just as shadeful as he has come.

Being an elf would be nice, especially considering the fact that you can live for thousands of years...

And we stinky, boring humans only live for a bit less than a century.

What short life we humans lead compaired to that of Elven folk. The brigter the flame the quicker it burns, or so the saying goes. To be honest I would not want to be on this earth for more than a century..as much as I love life its a burden my soul would wish not to carry for ever.

I would rather be the humming bird, with a short but sweet life than that of the eturnal undead.. and believe me I know whats it like.
So I say with honest truth I am not jellouse of life span. Besides the longer you live..the longer your worries will last, the longer your love will to..but then all the more time love has to cheat you.

Elvin, do you still wish to be a member of a drow-guild.....or did you learn something from the words of the others?
The way you like to choose couldn't be the right one 'cause drows are cruel and heartless.
..........most of them...........
