Fibers

Post by Tzi Hahasus »

Our characters on Illarion must very hot. They walk around all day in wool and leather-but there are plenty of other, cooler fibers that can be spun. For instance, linen is made of flax which is grown and dried. Cotton cloth is made of cotton, which is also grown. I don't see how it would be too much trouble to create some new plants for spinning and weaving cotton and flax. And with the sheep gone now, it would provide an alternative for the tailors. And then there's silk, which is made from the cocoons of moths. Could it be possible to have a moth pen like the sheep pen, where you could gather silk to spin...
Also, these fibers could have difficulty levels-you have to be good at spinning wool before you can spin flax, and you have to be good at spinning flax before you can spin cotton, since flax is harder to spin than wool, and cotton is harder to spin than wool and flax, because it has short fibers.

This is a good idea...that has already been proposed in the past...I said pretty much the same thing before.

Concerning silk: It has been discussed and concluded I believe that the medieval fantasy that illarion is based in is European...maybe silk would be a bit out of place? It is a good idea still though I think. :)

I love that idea. Being a farmer myself i have been long awating for something to grow other than the boring old cabbages and grain. and i think that stuff like corn would have been grown more than cabbages.

I don't think they had corn back then unless you are saying that Illarion is in North America where corn came from. If so then why all the buildings are not indian tents

Be aware that america is not in this game.

Here, corn could grow on a remote island...called Illarion.

If there is no america, where does corn come from?

Somewhere else of course.Somewhere that has been discovered.

Yes, but there is no Usa here.So corn could not grow there, because it does not exist. Therefore, it would grow somewhere else.

you know there is more than one country in north america? there is also two fairly large places called canada and mexico. It is from a european perspective, but, then why do we have banana's? After all we can kill demons? I dont know anywhere on earth you can do that. Even though serpardum isnt a developer anymore when he was he told me there would be a new shipment of seeds from the mainland, which i hope is still going to happen.
