Unable to find screen display mode: 1024x768 at 32 (Eng)

The FAQ here in help says it means the client rez is set smaller than the screen resolution - but I get this no matter What Resolution and color depth I set the screen to.
I found another thread about this but I lack the German Language skills to understand it.

Anyone know a solution to this? I played years ago and would love to play again.

This problem usually happens on Linux systems.

The x-server does not report the bitdepth of the screen with 32bits, it does report 24bits. In the options of the client you should be able to change this setting. Once you did it should run smoothly.

I have changed the option between 16, 24, 32 on Windowed / Fullscreen for each resolution available on my OS, and it gives the same message every time.
I suspect I am just out of luck on this.

You aren't using a Netbook with a resolution of 1024x600 are you?

It is an all in one PC.. the monitor is the PC itself, resolutions up to 1366x768, 32 bit color by default. It handles Skyrim, so it isn't a Lack of capacity .. I think there is simply something between it and Illarion that refuse to work together. It has a 1024x768 rez setting in 32 bit, I've tried that in 32, 24, and 16 bit, windowed and fullscreen.. I still get the Same error box with the same message.

What is the monitor refresh rate set to? It should be at or above 60Hz.
