I realize the object is to allow most to be done ig but due to the time problem this can't be always accomplished. Being in the RP section of the board can be considered like other RP posts as in character and similar to in game yet would allow greater freedom to sell products when others can also see bids and possibly outbid.

I would like to propose re-opening the trade board for auctions and answers to posts if written in character allowing those of different times to participate. The advantage to this is to make the forum more interesting, allow others to see what the bids are to give a better idea of prices of things in game now yet someone could still request PM's/doves rather then posts/parchments. Thoughts?

Since the trading board isn't used, anyway, I see no harm or risk in merging it with the RPG board and thus, allowing trade posts there. This should solve all problems, right?

I MAY not understand your suggestion but don't think merging trade with RPG threads would be helpful for new or older players.
In order to hunt things people sell, having a separate trading board from the RP threads would make it more convenient for older and particularly newer players. It is seldom used anymore due to the 1. limited number of trades now shown leaving an inability to search for past trades and 2. The lack of any response to said trades. If the trading board was again opened up i.e.

1. not deleting past trades too soon allowing at least two pages to show.
2. allowing posts relevant to the trade and disallowing any "bumps" to push their trade up to the first.
3. allowing auctions and trades to post in the board of chars at the discretion of who initiates the "sell", "wanted" trade.
4. all with the stipulation of having to follow the RP board rules.

It would again make the trading board something interesting to follow and allow chars of different time zones to promote, sell, buy their wares without reposting them excessively along with the various PM's related to the trade. This would also be very handy to new players as they can see the craftsman's trade on the board and know who to request what with.

Would it help to make the trading board a sub board of the RPG board? You know, like the graphics board?

I agree that the auto deletion of posts isn't necessary such as specific trade board rules aren't really helpful. The less rules there are, the better .

That would be perfect and have the added advantage of cleaning up the forum somewhat too.

Couple of ideas added:

Possibly call it Trade and Auctions? When the auction date is past, the thread can be locked which would allow more threads to show depending on/if there is a number set. I am not sure very old threads should stay, chars changing professions etc. As far as a time possibly a month or so for general trade posts or better yet, two pages of posts then the craftsman would have to repost, hopefully that would average to about a month?
