What do the little colored bars at the bottem of someone's character mean? Is it how strong they are compared to you?

I too believed they were for identification purposes, but Cain elaborated to me that the bars told of ones chosen stats:

Red meaning they had a strong mix of strength.
Blue meaning they had an even mix of everything.
Yellow meaning they had a good mix of agility.
