Lost in a cave

Post by Banduk »

Sorry about the Denglish. I use it due to most of the playes of the army are not german
Whuuuuum!
My head is banging, light is allover, dust fills my mouth and my ears are singing.
Once the dust falls and I’m able to recognize my surrounding I try to find back to myself.
I know who I am and what we are doing. I’m Banduk and we are in a battle against goblin tribes, which threaten my home town Trolls Bane and my family.
And we fight them back into there own cave down. We? … Where are the others?

The bottle thrower
The cave was crowded. Cries and magic fire can listen from all around. Goblins in dozens seem just to come out of the rocks. We wade through greenly glowing blood and over dead goblins. The goblins have some fire workers, which throw gynk fires into our lines. And we couldn’t see them.
There! Behind that rock a fire trace lead my eyes back to the thrower. He’ll be dead soon by my blades, damned enemy. There’s not even the blink of an eye time to tell anybody about. I have to follow him, if I want to take him out of the lines of our enemies and save our people.
The thrower recognized me and tries to flee into deep cave. That will not work. I can get him soon. He runs, I run faster and come closer and closer. But the sound of the battle we left behind.
Where he is left? The sound of a small rolling stone leads my view back. Just one blade length behind my back stands the grinning goblin with a burning bottle of gynk fire in hand on a rock.
Even before my brain could recognize the danger, my swords swirl around and hit the enemy into the legs. The grinning face of the goblin changed into horror and he falls back. The trace of the burning bottle disappears behind the rock. Maybe the fall was not as slow as I remember, but that’s the last picture I got before a huge explosion knock me out.

Trapped
Now all my five senses are back. The direction is clearly to hear. The sound of the battle penetrates the rock. Small earthquakes can feel below my boots and the crazy thrill of magic offended my ears.
I’m ok. Just a few minor scratches, nothing what need notice even if I’d be at home. and just behind that rock is the way back
Oh no! Behind that rock was the way back. Tons of boulders heap over the dead bottle thrower and block the way.
I have to find another way and start my search. Behind each rock the right corridor could be. Some of the ways are dead ended. Some corridors lead me back to where I was before.
The sound of the battle lows more and more. And after an unknown while it is quite.
Hours later a bad mind pains my head more and more. There is no way out. I’m trapped in a cave.

Worries
With time my pain becomes significant. Yesterday I talked with my bride if we take cherry or apple pie for the wedding menu. Now I have not even an idea, if anybody knows where I am and if I can see the sun again.
What’s with Shandra? I saw her wounded coming back from the battle. I hadn’t even had time to say more then a few stupid words to her. What really happened? Is she on her way to recover or do I have just another dead daughter?
Lia, what are you doing? Are you traveling into danger while search myself? Who is helping you? Outside there must be thousands of Goblins, who will not only hunt Elfes. They will eat you. Be careful!
Who will take care about the delivery from Gynk? Does it come to harbor today? Do I have a new day, or is the moon shining over the town?
As more as I think about, as more the lack of information and possibilities to change the situation pains my mind.

The last torch
This is my last torch.
Currently I’m not going to die by hunger. There are 2 breads and some sausages left. Water is all around. But it will not last long time.
I have no idea how many times I’m trapped now. But If I do not want to die, I have to go on with my work.
The swords are blunt due to scratching markers all over the walls, where I searched for an escape centimeter by centimeter.
There’s a light in a cavern, I hadn’t seen yet. Gobbos, the escape … no matter my way out!
No..! It’s just another dead end but the light is something, what will help my much. This cavern is full of mushrooms, what are shine. It’s not bright but it’s more then the total darkness. And it will last for some more time. I’m happy. I got another chance to see Lia and Shandra again.

Time to think about a lot of things
It’s hard waking up from sweet dreams. A minute ago I felt the head of my bride Lia on my breast and stroke her hair. Her giggling cares my ears.
The reality it’s dark and cold. A silent dropping pains my brain. The grey coat, made by Shandra is warming my body, memories to Lia calm by brain down.
My fingers are following the stitching of the coat. I can feel how uniform the stitches are set. It was made with love, and I love her for that and for much more and even for nothing. But the picture I can not get out of my brain. She lay within her own blood coming back from the battle. I remember her smile and how she always hugs me. Why I was not over there to protect her?
I’m sitting here on a stone, a handful of mushrooms fill the near with light. Eating a small peace of bread and sausage I remember every single word and movement of my darling. And … there’s something, I hadn’t recognized the combination before. Within the last time, Lia was eating much more then before and why does she honk so often in the morning. Even sometimes she seems to be a little bit beside her own. That could mean nothing … or is she pregnant maybe? Do I become father again?
The search has to go on. I must escape here!
I must know if I will become father!
And I must protect her!

An old ladder
I will not give up. Holding a handful of shining mushrooms I found a small corridor, I didn’t see before. It is dark and narrow inside and I let me guide by my hands. Suddenly the cave becomes a little bit larger and there is an old ladder up.
I climb it up feeling sun in my brain and grab in the dark into a dentition. In the glow of the mushrooms I can see a dead head of a goblin died direct at the top end of the ladder. Is this just another dead end way?
At any time in past, goblins lived in that part of the cave. Or do they live right now too? I have no idea how a goblin cave should looks like.
The good thing, I found a spring and some more shining mushrooms. The bad thing, there’s no exit too.
But there must be another way out, cause the way I came in could not be the way to bring in the wood for that ladder for example. And there’s much more new caverns I can find an escape.

Goblin belongings
I hadn’t found an escape but I’m sure there must be one. I found something like a flat. An old chest contains a few candles and an old book.
The light of the candle blends my eyes but maybe the book contains a map to find the escape.
I’m careful while opening the Book! Slow, slower I open it and … the pages are ruined. There’s dust only. It was too old.
All things over there are quite old. It must be decades, the last Goblin where here. Nearly everything falls to dust or breaks, once I grab it. The fact horrifies me. If not even a goblin found a way, I’d be lost.
I fall into dreams.
Dear Lia, you are going to become widow just before the marriage. I can never tell you how much I love you. I’ll never feel your kisses and see your eyes.
Dear unborn son or daughter. You will never see your father. What will you learn about me? Will I become a monster or a hero in your games?
Dear Shandra, there will be no daemon skeleton we both fight down. Who will teach you to stay alive?
Dear Miriam, You and your son will never get a letter from his grandfather. The sword, I promised him will become unmade.
Dear unknown dungeon researcher in hundred years, will you recognize that these bones are from a man with loved ones or will you ignore them.

Escape
Waking up my stomach is rumbling.
The last food, I eat before going to sleep. The only thing’s I have enough are candles.
But the light pains my eyes.
And something tickles my nose. Is it dream or real? It is fresh roasted meat. Does my brain plays with myself? Is there a hope?
I follow the walls with my nose. The smell becomes more intensive.
Hurray, it’s real! It’s coming out of this narrow corridor. I can’t loose more I just lost! I crawl into the cavern.
That’s the position, where I returned before. If it will become narrower I will not even have a chance to return.
How many meters I crawl now? It imagines like hundreds and the smell is anywhere in front of me. It is dark and the cavern becomes wider. I search in my bag, what I drag behind me for a candle and light it.
Right before my hands a table is located. A plate with fresh roasted meat is prepared in between other belongings. I grab to the meat and stop. The presentation seems abnormal. Who the hell would place a human or elfish skull onto a table and decorate it with fresh roasted meat? A horrify cognition creeps into my brain. This is a goblin altar! This Elf and human could be from our army. Irmorom let it be not my darlings!
After a minute of getting frozen, I take a sword and clean the table with a single strike. The skull I put into my bag.
In one hand a candle lantern, in the other a sword I se the way out clearly.
Lia, Shandra I’m coming!
