Walking behind buildings

Post by Crocket »

Can the buildings and walls be made to completely disappear when you are behind them instead of just halfway (maybe just leave a line on the ground showing that a wall is there)? Sometimes when behind a building I can't see myself at all. Especially the two story buildings.

Also while exploring the zombie area (close to the coffin on the right hand side) I was in the hallway and a zombie started attacking me. I did not even know it was there until I saw my health meter dropping, because the portion of wall where the zombie was at was still fully up. Only the section where I was at was halfway gone. My character should have seen it coming down the hallway.

this would be hard to do, i would rather they made the mini-map to where it showed other players and npc's.

shouldn't this be in the proposal forum? Anyways, I would rather be able to move my view of things around in the 360 degree angle, so then I would be able to see where someone is hiding.

That would be ok too.
By the way the zombie wasn't hiding. He was straight in the line of sight of my character, but I could not see him because of the wall.

Illarion is a 2d game, you mistake it for 3d, 360 degrees is not possible without much work for martin.

A line in the ground or the npc and players on the map are both good ideas. But have been suggested before in one for or another.

accually, you could just make it like runescape battles, they only show one side of the char but other sides of the buildings and scenery.and we already see multiple sides of the char, there would just have to be fixed veiws.

YOU STILL MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!

Runescape is also 3d, and at the start of the site it says (this game is not like Runescape)

Illarion is 2d~to see multiple angles, GFX like trees, walls, ect would need to be in 3d, otherwise the ENTIRE idea of a 2d ISOMETRIC game is ruined.

if you have a 3d model of something its o so very simple to render it in multiple views.

now your making another mistake, no its not actually (Rotate, test render to make sure roated properly, render again) then theres no point,

might as well ask illarion to use A 3d engine instead of asking martin to do all that extra work.

At least make walls disapear more so that you can see more. When behind a building the wall should disapear. Not just a tiny tiny tiny small peice of the building enough to just see your character. Things can get confusing at times.

Do you mean like on The Sims where there is a small line of wall left where the wall used to be? that would be a lot better than just the one square.

Yes, if it could be done like the Sims it would be great.
Thanks I didn't think of that one.

It seems so.

Actually, walls do already disappear when moving behind them (at least some do). The problem as I understand is only that everything above the first level would not be removed and hence block your sight.

Yep, I understood the problem.
But I am not able to do something. This needs simply a change in the client source which I can't do. This posting would fit better on the proposal board, but I am too lazy to find out how to move threads. ;)

You guys are saying that just seeing your character behind a wall is good enough? Actually it isn't. That's about all the wall disapearing that happens.

Kasume, if its not good enough for you, make your own game. Not seeing behind buildings also gives theives the slim chance they have to escape.

You know after hearing what some people say....I am suprised to see that so many say for me to leave. How does that help THIS game at all? You really want more competitors against Illarion? Besides I don't know how to make a game. I am 13....

Might be the fact, that you are very young and might be that you cant understand some concepts of the game.

competitors? hah, funny, the only competitors are graphical ones that you have to accually buy like starwars galaxies. Most online games like this that cost money arent even as good as illarion.

Does it realy matter hom many MMORPG's you've played?

This started out about wall disapearing when you went behind them, lets stick to that before it gets locked

Actually it does. I know many many many games that live up to Illarions play. Massive online multiplayers is not Illarion competitors. And not all are massive.
