Name Generators for those poor, uncreative souls

Post by paul laffing »

While glancing around the internet at avatars, I happened to come upon an interesting website. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it tells you what your name would be if you were a hobbit. Here is the URL:

http://www.chriswetherell.com/hobbit/

There was also one for elf names:

http://www.chriswetherell.com/elf/

I hope these help.

People who aren´t creative enough to find a name which fit´s in this world, will not fit in this game, too.
Because it´s a good sign, that these persons can´t put themself in a fictive situation / fantasy world.

My oppinion, point.

I dont like these Things.
They allow, as you mentioned, uncreative people to trick the first obstacle in thier way to get an account. So the GM cant delet thier first eMail with the names and has to wait to a (uncreative) Story from them.

well, we always have the second gate, the story that you must finish. Many uncreative people will not get past that.

well, you might be creative, but just stuck on a name! It is helpful and may at least give you a good start for a name, like mine was Meriadoc Brandybuck of Buckland, but then I can change that to... Merdio Brayduck, or something.

Another one I found was http://www.flatearth.com/utilities/namegen.asp.

I have to admit that my characters name is only half self made up. I made up the Dracon part, but my last name my friend made up. His name was going to be Yuri Falla (if you dare steal the first name i'll hunt you down in-game) but he changed his mind about the game so i took his last name. Then ironicly he changed his mind again when i told him about the game.

Heh, some people are often too creative. A friend of a friend wrote his story in graphic detail about how he slaughered some orcs or something. I dont know what his question was but he didnt get accepted.

You can't 'steal' a name if no one owns it.

I like to take a letter and just start naming different things. Some are like Damaklo or something. It's a shame to see friends at school use stupid names like ilikechicken102. I hate it. It's so pitiful. Using these things is also a sad way to say that your just plain lazy and you only know how to type your name into little boxes. Doesn't take a whole ton of creativity. Take virtues like Valor and make a name. Use things that in a weird way mean something. Mine means nothing. I just took the letter K and messed with it. And got Ka-soom. It's still intresting to find out what my elvish name is. Arminas Telrúnya. Actually....I like it! It's cool...

Speaking of names and annoying side-effects, Ka-soom-ee.

You clearly annoyed me by repeatingly call me "Darlock",
but is just Darlok.

I expect everybody to read the name carefuly before answering, someone who doesnt even to read the name of the writer also dont seem to read the whole text what this person has written.

Kasume, I thought you were a human. I remember your post when you got your account and you first played. You said "Humes Rock" and so I figured you were a human.

No I have no clue what your talking about Gro'Bul. Orcs never existed! And that's violation of name rules!!! Your not suppose to copy from something! Hehe just kidding I am totally confused with you saying you got your name from a orc.

ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?! Names are extremely important to roleplaying. In addition to acting your race, you need to act your name! If your name was, say, a beautiful name like Paul Laffing :D , wouldn't you act different if your name was Grub?

Errr Playing as my character Kasume without a last name shows that not much is known about himself and he was young when his parents died. It shows that his name is a disgrace and should never be said around him. Kasume's last name should never be revealed. That's how I use my name.
