concussion weapons

Post by Gro'bul »

right now with the exeption of fists the concussion weapons are basically useless. the mace and morning star cause about as much damage as a piece of cake and if you use a war hammer you might as well use your fists. i think concussion weapons depending on your skill and if you hit them should stun your apponent for one attack, with the exeption of fists or fists would be made to attack slower.

I've been using a warhammer and to my knowledge have been doing fairly decent.

Maybe I need to switch to a sword and see if I can do even better.

in the time it takes to hit once with a war hammer, you can do the same amount of damage with fists.

You know what Gro'bul I have Proposed this a million times and has been ignored, I have got no replies ALL the 2 handed weapons are RIGGED, I swear. you are barely able to kill a trol with it. light 2 handed weapons are supposed to be strong and easily maneuverable with your hand such as a battle staff.

Does a 2-handed sword provide any parry?

Yes, but so little it is an insignificant amount when compared to the parry of a sword/shield combo.

Dodging

Post by Hades »

There should be a skill dedicated to dodging with a two handed weapon that way the discussions about two handed weapons being so hard to use would be over!!

The current fighting system was never meant to be serious.
It's just a quick-and-dirty-solution.
Who knows, maybe we change that in some way or the other.

Really Martin?

Hah, all this time I thought it was rather complex, combatwise, compared to the other RPGs I've seen. Concussion weapons works on skeletons better, wearing a shield is necessary to block the blows of a mace from an ogre...at least there's SOME sort of system.

Fighting

Post by Hades »

I like the fighting system, but it is by no means perfect the weapon system should also be improved upon. Two handed weapons should also do twice as much damage as a one handed weapon, just because you use two hands. Next parrying a blow with a shield and sword is different then dodging it with a two handed sword, so they should be different skills. Wielding a two handed weapon should also be a skill on top of the regular skills and there should also be a skill for yielding a one handed weapon. One and two handed weapons are completely different fighting styles, and this would also limit powergaming at least for people with two handed weapons because they would kill their training partner way to fast or get themselves killed way too fast!!

People complain about 2 handed weapons and the ammount of parry they give, but i have been using a wand and i'm no fighter but I can parry a mummie or two.
A war hammer is probably too heavy to move fast enough to block someone with, say a dagger. The war hammer should have a chance of breaking the weak shields depending on your skill.

well since we dont have breaking shields at the moment thats why i wanted it to stun your opponent randomly.

It was just an idea for the future...
To add to it, if you get a realy good blacksmith to make your weapon, it would have less chance of breaking, same with the weapon. Eg the weapon was made by a blacksmith with 10 skill (number is there to show what I meen) and the shield was made by a blacksmith with 20 skill, then the weapon would have a greater chance of breaking on impact with the shield. :?

they already have that planned. it says somewhere the better the blacksmith the longer things last which isnt true at the moment.

Indeed, I find shooting arrows at skelletons to be an incredably effective way of killing them. 2 wind arrows and they are down even with my poor bowskill hehe. I just pretend I am really good and can shoot at their would be neck so it breaks and their head falls off :D wich would kinda be an awnser to what weapons do more damage to different enemies since I doubt bow and arrows would be the first choice against a pile of bones.
