Server status?

Post by Bumbol Woodstock »

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but on the website, the front page where is says how many people are ingame and who is playing, it says the server is down. But the server isn't down because I just played it. And it has been like this since last night. So, I just thought you wuld all like to know.

I noticed it this morning. It also said 0 people were playing, but when I got in there were several people there. Don't that it bothers me, but probably bugs one of the programmers *laughs*.

When the server crashes and they are fixing it, they put 'Nobody can play' or whatever so that you dont waste your time trying. Sometime I guess they just forget to change it back.

There is no manual change of the website. The server gives a status code to the website. Depending on this code you will see a message like 'server is online/offline/...'.

I think there may be some kind of programming error, because it says it is frozen now, but in all reality, isn't. Some sort of false alarm, or something. :D

This might happen. I think if the server doesn't respond in time, the script sets the status to offline, although it isn't.

correct...
it propably just means the server responds slowly at the time the script checks the status...
and since the script is not intelligent it doesn't know the difference to the server being frozen..

Okay, then explain why it says the server is up when it really isn't.

By not telling it that it works.

And because it only asks once in a while it will not notice until there is no answer from the server when it asks for the status.
