What do capes do? Do they raise anything? Do they give you defense? Or are they just for fun?

That is explained on the Illarion web side.

IC= In character, also in the game or on IC Boards.

I ask me how you can play the game and use the boards well, if you don´t know the base words.

I have seen no complaints of anyone saying that I don't role play yet. Knowing terms for short has nothing to do with how well you speak on the forums.
