Grumpy client

Post by Leva Beliu »

Since a few days, I am experiencing some weird behaviour with the Illarion client. Half the time, it makes my computer restart without warning. When it loads (after a few minutes), I have the lower part of the window and the equipment pane veiled in black (transparent). Also the logs are not registering anymore.
I did not change anything on my machine that I know of.
I reloaded the client.
I did not swear!!
Any idea?
Thanks in advance

That is weird

Start > run > 'javaws -viewer'

delete 'illarion client' from the list, and then press "PLAY" on the main page. It'll redownload the client again

It sounds like something got corrupt.

If problems persist, check that you're using the latest java, and failing that, reinstall it.

Or use an older java if it still fails with new one, I(and other people too I think) still had problems getting to run Illa on newer ones so and I run it on jre 1.4.2_19 just fine all the time, you can google that and download the old version from java themselves, and it can run beside newer versions too, just don't set it to standard client and put a link to the webstart on your desktop, you can leave that running for faster relogging on Illarion too.

I never had any problems with the latest java - though I had a firewall blocking it off once.

Its always better to use the latest java anyway, don't leave security holes in your PC ... plus it has a habit of being faster.
