problems with account activation

I sent an email (I applied a month or so back before they had the form) got the reply, answered it and then today I got notification that my account had been accepted but it would be awhile before I could play. However I went to check my character, ran the exe, typed in character name and password (the ones that I sent to be registered) ended up getting the "this character does not exist" error message. Any idea what happened?

They do not make the character, you do.

Create the character.

You should of created the character before you asked for the account in case it already existed (I know they don't make that quite clear).

Anyway, go ahead and start the .exe then click on the create character button and put in the same name/password and hope it doesn't exist with someone else

If it's already approved you'll be able to play right away, otherwise you'll get kicked out of the game with a message that it's unapproved. Just keep trying every day til you can play.

I think the character needs to exist for the GMs to activate it. Better hurry and create the character! I'd guess Shivoc would take about 2 or 3 days to activate the character. Don't quote me on that...

bloody, its my fault for not being clear... the problem was that I created the character then registered. Thats why when I checked it after I was accepted and got the character doesn't exist message I found it a little strange... wasn't clear before but that happens when you write stuff at 1am, sorry everyone

@Tylus, try to recreate the character with the same name and password now that you're accepted using the character generation option. If you do this while the request for your character to be activated is still in transit from one GM to the other then you have a slim chance of getting that character activated. If you get an error message saying that the character already exists then try logging in and it may work now. Sometimes the error messages you receive in the game are slightly misleading and you may have received the one saying that your character does not exist when in fact it does but was not activated. I hope some of this made sense.

that is wrong. There are different types of error massages. And the both you talked about are accurate.
"Does not exists" only appears when a character realy does not exists in the databases.
"Does exist, but is not approved" only apears when your account is not approved/activated.
There are no "missleading" errors.

I haven't created a character since many of those error messages were written. My last experience was with an error message was with one that was very vague and encompassed many different possible errors but I'm happy to hear that these have been changed, thanks for the new information Darlok.

Sadly the same problem happened to my character.
I created my character in Create Character screen in the game, than a requested account via Account Request on thi site, then I've waited for nearly 3 weeks until two task for approving account were sent to me, today I got the email, saying that my account is accepted. I hurried up to start the game, but when I tried to log on with my character's name and password I was stopped by the error message containing the following words "Account hasn't yet been accepted. You have to apply via email." Well, but I've done all that 3 weeks ago. And my account has been approved today.
After that, I tried to make that character again (with the same name and password) through Create Character screen, after reading the advise in this post, but the message "Character couldn't be created (the name is already used)!" forced me to post here.
Is there any possible solution, or I just have to wait?

you might have to wait a bit, since the mail, to the one, who activates the account went out today too...
