Enchanting
Mages make very little money, and I think adding the ability to allow mages enchant weapons and tools would help with a mage's money dilemna. A mage could enchant tools to make them last longer, and in the future when weapons can break, a mage can make weapons las tlonger also. A mage could enchant swords, axes, arrows, etc. to make them do extra physical damage, and/or elemental damage, which would affect each monster type differently. For example, a mage could enchant a sword to do ice damage, there could be a small chance that this would freeze the target, slowing it down, the ice attack would also do more damage to demons. Enchanting could be a new skill even, and you would have to choose between becoming an enchanter, mage, or druid. Or there could be an enchanting rune, maybe this could be found in the library, dropped by a strong monster, or even caught when fishing. Warriors have the choice of many different weapons. Archers/rangers, which I consider a sub class of the warrior can choose between the bow, which is faster, but does less damage, and use two different types of arrows, or the crossbow, which is slower and does more damage. Like other weapons, arrows should be able to be enchanted with fire or ice damage. In conclusion, I think the ability to enchant weapons in any way would make the game much more interesting, and everyone wouldn't be using a fire sword, war axe, or war hammer.
I like this idea. As a new spell it would be good, at first you wouldnt be good at it and you would even brake some weapons trying. It should cost a lot of mana so that people dont enchant lots of things merely to make money fast.
However, mages can already make a lot of money fast ... it's all about finding how.

Only mages would be able to enchant these weapons, and you would need to have high intelligence. So pure warriors wouldn't be able to enchant their own weapons. Maybe even put a limit on it, such as: only one enchantment a day/week, you must already have all of the runes, or there would be a limit on how many spells the caster can cast for the next 24 hours. With these limits, people with multiple characters couldn't abuse this ability.Gro'bul wrote:to the weapons doing elemental/more damage. simple, no, i dont like this because then people who could enchant these items would be super strong and would be rich. however items lasting longer, sounds good to me.
It takes a very long time to master magery...and most mages don't have very many points in strength if any. If you read what I said mages wouldn't be able to use the enchanted weapons, only make them.Gro'bul wrote:that would take some major skill reworking as any mage can master magery and fighting skills.
@Gro'bul: The only way I can think of to accidentaly become a mage is to read in the library and get a magic rune before you get a recipe, even if they DID do that, there's only a 50% chance they will get a magic rune before a recipe. If someone is stupid enough to do that, then it's their own fault they can't use enchanted weapons.
@Lulufung: Thanks, am glad someone agrees with me.
