Skillanwuchs in Relation zur Onlinezeit/Charlebensdauer

Post by Kranek »

((Sry, only german, no mental capacity to translate right now :( ))

I completly disagree.

A skill cap that is dependant on your characters creation date?

The "You should stop playing the game and log out for a couple of hours."-message
right now is bad, but you are turning it into a
"You should stop playing the games for a couple of days."-message.

I can not think of anything that could salvage this idea into something worthwhile.

In what kind of delusional dream world are you actually living?

You have to make the players want to play the game, imposing even more restrictions on character development will drive them away in droves.
Turning the game from "fun game with RP" into "Chatroom mode" will not increase player numbers.

Edit:
Okay, here is something to get this proposal into the right direction:

The "older" your character is, the easier it is for him/her to pick up new skills, up to a certain point.
This point, where increased skill gain stops, goes up further the longer you have played with this character.

This goes along the lines of "more positive feedback", "less grind" and "more rewards for playing the game".

@Keikan:
Dude...do you really see PG = playing the game?
I personaly see playing as the RP....PG is necessary to play a char reasonable, f.e. as a warrior.
When the player stops PG and begins to RP, he gets benefit with additional skills he could increase to his max.

EDIT: I'm too stupid to write his name...sry!

Why are you seeing this as a "either/or" thing?

As soon as the game basicly tells you:
"Look, you have done enough today (for the rest of the week), I'll now disable more then half of my features.
But don't worry, you can still use me as a glorified chat room."

Then something is wrong with this game being a game.

Because everybody else on the 'market' is better in either of these things, being a grindfest or a superiour RP chatroom.

Edit:
Can you at least spell my name right, thanks?
