All your Naming Needs - Check out this name Generator

Post by Jactana »

While browsing through one of my Computer magazines I ran across a good site with a hobbit name generator so if you have troubles finding a name besides a jumble of numbers try this out.  ***Please post me on what you think of this topic***

I'll share some with ye.. (I'm using one :P)
Orc: Ufbrug the Slaughterer
Nob Mugworts from Brockenborings
Both include titles and can therefore not be used in Illarion (you can enter "The slaughterer" in the title field though.

Something I had to think about: It takes me less than 10 seconds to create a name of my own. How long does it take to load the website with the name generators and and let it create names until you get a legal one? Is it faster?

Maybe you need 10 seconds, but you have to look if it isn't already used and if it fits to your character.

If I am "creating" a character name, I am not talking about naming my character with stupid names like "Gandalf", "Rincewind", "Boromir".. etc. i.e. I won't take a name from a book.
How big is the chance, that names like "Jeklawanin", "Zehkodan" and "Qwan'tzar Chelion" are already taken? Is it bigger than 0.0001%? I guess not. And in this one-of-a-million-case I'll take the 10 seconds to think of another one. If a name is already taken, you can almost be sure, that the name is stolen from somewhere (or consists of comon words like dragonslayer, bear hunter...).

You know  they all aren’t titles, like Falco Braodbelt isn’t a title.  So i think the hobbit generator should work well.
