Torches vs Lantern

Post by Rye »

I find that torches burn quickly. Will a lantern last longer? As long as one has oil to keep it filled I assume? Is one better than the other?

Welcome, in order not to repeat the typical "find out in game" line :D , I can honestly say I don't know. My GUESS is they are both comparible.

Lanterns don't use oil, they use candles.

Lamps use oil.

They last about the same time, but at least oil and candles stack, so you carry less.

Thank you. I am able to make my own torches and was hoping to avoid the cost of oil. I will experiment with the lantern and candles. When you first begin here it is difficult to acquire money so I try to do things now as cheaply as possible.

Yeah when you start playing I recommend talking to someone and trying to get a job. Most high-level crafters don't want to bother collecting their own resources, and you can get paid some good money selling wood, or ores or leather.

That is exactly what I have done. I am mining for one player and chopping wood for another. I also sell leathers to whomever happens to need them. I hate, however to keep asking them for advice. Discovering what ingredients and which tools are needed to craft different things seems like it will take a looooong time and lots of experimentation. I have patience though. Thanks again.

If you look under the crafting section of the wiki, you will find all you need there.
