Pillow talk.
My proposal is basically proposing that beds should (perhaps) be given an engine purpose, for e.g. in other RP games when you rest at an INN your health is reinstated and you feel better - so perhaps at the hospitals or if there ever was an actual INN made (or any other bed for that matter), the player could select the bed and their health would be reinstated and feel better.
Now listen, I know what your thinking. The economy is all to hell how would this possibly help the druids or anyone else?... Well.
The owner of a bed could use it freely (their bed would be a -no access- to other PO's), where as those who do not own a bed would have to pay like 2 silver at an inn or something, it would be just like using a teleporter and the coins would be taken from your inventory when you use it... Or perhaps raise the price I don't know, but let me continue ~ you may be thinking "why the hell would someone pay to use a hospital bed? Well in that case you could use it for free but the bed wouldnt 'make you feel as better' as a bought one... Only allowing the PO to use it once every day so as not to abuse the hospital beds or whatever (its pretty loose I know)...
Anyway I think you get the point. Give beds an engine use like this, or whatever. They look nice and all but if this game is to stand along side other RP's I think it would suit well, could be a shit load of work though and may not happen for years, but hey, atleast I put it out there.
What do you think? Suggestions? Anything I missed/ or you dont understand? (I'm not brilliant at explaining things.)

You mean less useful that spicing food or?.. What about bandits etc... Its just a quirk, noone would have to use them but I guess the option could always be there instead of waiting to regenerate after being clouded or paying for potions from Druids that ~may~ be impossible for PO to reach at that time.
@Estralis - I suppose with the current way Illarion is I am suggesting a Shift+click because I suppose that is the only way that money could be taken from your inventory, but maybe for the hospital bed you could increase the regeneration rate when using / standing next to a bed. unless ofcourse a Dev realized a whole "Walk in the Inn, go up to the guy at the counter, say "I will buy bed for the night" and he says "Sure your bed is second door on the left", the door opens for you, locks behind you, and only reopens once you have used the bed.

I meant.. its not going to be used much.
Assume you fight at the graveyard and almost die. By the time you arrive to your inn room, BAM your health is already 100%.
Obviously if you die, that's a bit different, but death is intended to be that way, so you don't go charging back into the fray.
I had once suggested that beds help remove the hance of getting a 'bad day', but that's just me

A man and a woman shift click a bed and the screen instantly turns censored. After 9 IG months, there is a 50% chance that your char kills himself because he did not plan to be a parent.
Anywaaaaay.. the raw idea is good, but you need to put a little bit more thought into it. Making people actually spend their time in their homes, would be a good thing.

Shift+click makes you recover 120% faster (health and mana) and your scillcap reduces 180% faster.
Moving the char stops the effect.
If you sleep 5-10 minutes at once, you'll get a random bonus (+1) on one attribut for 1 IG-day.
Sleeping more than 15 minutes per rl-day/ig-day has no further effect. Public beds (for which you need no key) have no effect. (Exception is hospital, but only for health and mana)
All numbers are negotiable.
EDIT: Oh yeah the illness cure and 20? seconds unmoveable are good
And it kills poison

No malus. Not everyone can afford a bed and frankly, remember when the food system sucked? Yeah, let's not have a repeat of that.Avalyon el'Hattarr wrote:Maybe you get a con bonus if you sleep (log out) near a bed and get a con malus if you log out anywhere else for a few times.
But it would be cool if it removed skill cap, fully cured health and cured illness, and gave a CON boost for X amount of time, but it disabled you from doing anything else during that time. (So you could get assassinated in your sleep

though this part is what beds should actually be for (hey i'm tired, i'm going to go sleep) this would undermine the skillcap and help encourage power gaming making beds an actually useless item.Hadrian_Abela wrote:Then we'll have people who just afk near a bed just to remove the skillcap faster.steppenwolf wrote:Shift+click makes you recover 120% faster (health and mana) and your scillcap reduces 180% faster.
Skillcap is there to tell you "Hey, you've PG-ed enough. Go roleplay"
Hrm. At first, I liked this idea. But then I realised, there is not enough beds to go around. That being said, everyone will be taking turns on beds, and if you want to be an idiot, you can simply start the rest proccess, and then leave. If your character is actually sleeping, then talking wouldn't really be available, and most likely they wouldn't really be able to follow any given situation. Much like if the character simply logged out. The only thing this would do, is provide a parking spot for characters as they are waiting for their skill cap to finish.
"But wait! This isn't about skilling!" Well, no, not directly. Warrior A goes to fight, and fights for a fair amount of time before getting defeated. Possibly even reaching the cap. Warrior A then goes to the cross, and lays down on a bed to restore his attributes faster. During this time, he is free to surf the internet, and what have you, rather than rp. Lets even say that the attributes return at a pretty good rate and say, 20 minutes. Now he has 40 minutes to kill before he can skill again. If he is not wanting to rp, why even bother rousing the character? Just leave him lay, and in an hour, -bam-. You have the following:
1) Full health.
2) Able to continue gaining large skillz.
3) Possible bonuses.
4) An hour of just having a character be afk IG.
The last one is, as I understand, a rule break. This just gives a chance for afking. If, however, after you are fully healed, you're character is awakened and possibly moved from the bed, or you are allowed to stay in the bed but you have to actually be typing stuff.
An increase on resting would be good for chairs and added things such as fire places. But this is probably all very extensive coding that really, IMHO, doesn't have much benefit and is very easily abused.

Why not use beds to erase the "death malus" quicker, I know a good long hospital rp normallxy is enoug time to get up your feet but sometimes its either not fitting, because your char might have been killed by an accident/technical glitch and thus is noncanon or that you don't want to waste time waiting hours untill a medico comes.
So here is the plan, standing on or next to a bed will regenerate your death malus twice as much, clicking on it and "sleeping" makes you heal around 4 times as much, meaning you would afk for a few minutes and bam back to the start, while you sleep you obviously could not walk or talk, an attack would instantly put you in the "coup de grace" position, making you a vulnerable target, thus a just beaten thief cannot hide in a bed to get better and won't flee from the guards once again.
Laying in bed would otherwise just cure illnesses, no bonus no nothing else.

Just do it like in the sims 2 : If your character slept for an amount of time per day in a very comfortable type of bed, he gets a comfortability bonus on his mood...
*cough cough* alrighty, no mood bar in illarion ! ...well, just give em a 5% - 20% percentage bonus on whatevar activity they do during that day, quality of produced items, to-hit-chance when fighting, pregnancy causing chance when cybering, and so on...
