The best is find a Druid. We have 2 Gilds, the Free Druids and The Druids of the Forest.

Otherwise, think what you must have für make a potion? You must have anything with what can cooking the potion and you must have anything what from cooking.

currently their is druid magic (potions). Find in game from players. Ask around, "Hello, I'm looking for a Druid to take me under their wing, do you know any I should ask?" or something like that.

Second there is rune magic. (mages) this is fireballs and stuff like that. again you should try finding out In Game. however if you wish to be a mage you will most likely need to apply to the magic academy boards found here http://illarion.org/community/forums/vi ... hp?t=26131 you will also need to be a good role player because rune magic is taught by other players, and some of them can be picky about their students.

as for "help"
most of what you need to learn about the game mechanics can be found on newbie island. go threw it, take your time and make sure you learn everything. it will make your time in illarion much more enjoyable.

as for any rules laws and anything like that that goes on in the world of illarion you have to choices. first is to find out IG. most towns have elected leaders there is a town guard in trolls bane. there is a farmers union ext.

the second way is the guild forum. almost all the information you need on the towns will be there as well as they are considered "guilds". as well as the magic academy, town guard, farmers union ext.

Finally there is also a wiki which can be found on the left hand side of the home page near the bottom. here is the link http://illarion.org/community/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

if you cannot find out what you need to know in game, on the forums or on the wiki there most likely isn't an answer and if there is not many people know, so just ask on the newbie forum. you may wish to search for or question in old posts as it is likely someone has had the same problem so this will allow you to get an answer immediately. there is a search option at the top right hand of the forum page to search for you.

finally a friendly reminder. Illarion is a role playing game. anything that would not be said by your character should be placed in double brackets (( )) and wispered

#w text here

so you don't think people are ignoring whispering can only be heard by people within two tiles of of. remember your characters doesn't know about the real world, that means computers, television shows, ... Obama... (sorry couldn't resist. Obama is still making the news on a regular basis here in Canada )

I hope that answers all your questions.
