Remove Cycle-Text for NPCs in Heavily populated areas

Post by Llama »

Title says it all.

Cycle-text is in theory a good idea - watching an NPC emote wiping over a bar or doing something more than being a musical statue is a nice idea.

However - some NPCs are in 'heavily populated areas' , or areas where people are INTENDING to be spending a lot of time in.

In trollsbane for example, these are:

Workshop, Eliza's, Pigpen, Tavern.
-
This means that - spending a few hours there, you're going to see the same cycletext repeated over and over again. There's no fun in that, its irritating to be honest. If I have to hear Sorgan "Arr!" again I feel like killing him - it doesn't encourage RP, it doesn't encourage people to talk.

"Oh look, the NPC just went "Arr!" let me stop powergaming and start roleplaying! Thank you for showing me the light!"

If its not wanted to remove cycle-text for them, could you at least reduce the frequency that cycle-text appears? Once every 30 minutes is more than enough for heavily populated NPCs.

You think about way more cycle texts. So go to work on it llama! :P

I think 100 cycle texts for a NPCare fine. ;)

Having suggested it before, I like this proposal over the link which will be interesting at first but AGAIN be boring, if not removed, make the frequency longer.
