Why I hate powergaming

Post by Lord Dark Sunrise »

I have to computers at my house now, soon to be 3 to 4. Now if I wished I could powergame to hell and back with my friends, but that’s just boring. I love Role-playing and if I feel like a bit of power gaming, I just load up age of empires of unreal and so on. But a lot of players are using this game as a war game!!! And that sucks big time. Yes I used to do that back in the 3000 numbers and ever for a bit when I came back, but I have learnt that that’s not fun. As soon as none player characters can cast magic, I think that player-on-player fight should not increase stats, and that the players should have to start from scratch. That would reduce powergaming to minimal. Sorry about the hard face, but I think it needs saying

That would be the easy way out, but you must remember what you are fighting for, a completly Role Playing game, and role playing must take its basis from RL.  Therefor if one trains with another person they do in fact learn the skill they are practicing, so you can not just eliminate that aspect of life.  But I do agree, there should be a manner of regulating it, maybe there could be a rate at which someone learns a skill.  In the system we have now, all stats are related to the length of a stat bar, maybe it could be regulated so that you learn all skills at a certain rate, maybe slashing weapons use would be learned at 0.5 inches per hour of training (just an example),  and each monster could only train to a certain level, as it is now.  Well most of what I just said popped up into my head when i was just trying to reply to why it would be un rp to eliminate the training aspect of illarion, but it could be modified to apease everyone except the powergamers... solution...for me yes...for the programmers....no freaking clue.  In conclusion, lds get your butt back to illarion we need more rpers, dont worry about the powergamers, they end up leaving after a few days, and if they dont take suggestions on why they are powergamers and to quit, for me no laws apply to them. I say take the law into your own hands and kill them on sight, hehe well not really, other forces are here to deal with them if they are made aware of them.  IE flerial Ellis, and shes nice to talk to also I might add...sorry...thats just asking for trouble, from two fronts.  sorry Guk and flur.

LDS, if i am NOT mistaken and I am not, the third last time I spoke with you you were charging a fee for powergamers, and then your student called my mother a fat hairy *****.

I most likely was. But that was to keep up with the current type of gaming. It took me a while to see that it was a waste of time and that i was only doing it for money and ingame rule. Thats why i have stoped playing now. All that was left to do was powergame cus everyone was doing it. All i tryed to do was turn it into Role-playing. To many people became skill hunters and use ther skills insted or RP. When i started with LDS, he had no skills but i still played the evil ruling type. This was fine for a while until the powergaming do-gooders came along and used the maxed skills insted of role-playing. So i saw that the only way to get any RP done was to try and max my skills and others around me. This worked for a while but more problems came...

We all like to be good, or even the best. But this is an RPG and not a war game
