He was falling. He could see everything clearly, but at the same time, he could see nothing but her. That face, looking over the edge of the tower. The fall seemed to take forever. Maybe he was falling forever, he couldn't tell. He just saw the face looking over the edge, second by second drawing further away. He saw the road, coming closer and closer by the second, but not too quickly, almost asthough it was taking its time.
His life did not flash before his eyes, rather he could see her face. Though, the face was no longer of the one that had thrown him, rather the face of a young woman whom he had grown close to. He couldnt remember her name for the moment. The fall was too fast, and his mind was spinning out of control, but it was slow enough that he could remember everything so perfectly. He looked down at the final seconds, and knew he was no more than a few feet from the cold, hard stone of the ground, and quickly looked up. He braced himself for the impact. Darkness.
He awoke with a jump. He found himself sweating. He looks around, only his eyes moving. The surroundings were unfamiliar. He tried to think of where he was, but it didnt come to his mind for afew moments. The room was warm, but empty. It hit him after a moment that he was still at the hospital, though he seemed to be hit by a wave of dissapointment by this fact. He lay there, completely still, other than the slow rising, and falling of his chest, and his eyes, which darted around the room rapidly.
He thought of only three things. He thought first about the words of the one who had worked on him. A week, stuck in that bed, that room... it was worse than prison to him. He thought of the girl's face, the one looking down to him as he fell. He thought of the night before, when he had given the ring to the one he loved. It felt like a dream to him. Maybe it was a dream, he couldnt remember. He could only try and remind himself over and over again, that it was not a dream, but a memory.
He remained in the bed, praying. He prayed that he would live, and recover quickly, so he would be able to marry the one he had given the ring to. He prayed that time would go by fast. And he prayed that someone would walk through that door, anyone. He didnt care who, just so long as they could break that endless silence.
