In the future will this be ...

Post by Kringin »

In the future will teh 10x system be removed? or made to a lower level like 3x or 5x ? just wondering cause everything is breaking and weight slows you down to everyone's pace and all that. So will this ever happen?

You know its pretty darn hard to do anything these days.
The only skills that I think should be kept they way they are, are:
Archering, Farming, Mining, Wood chopping, Fishing
Fighting to 5x or something.

the crafting skills seem near impossible to improve on. those should be reduced to 5x. the fighting skills, magic skills and druid skills should be ruduced to 8x. difficult is good, but this is a tad too much!

I agree that most craftsmanship skills are too hard. I carpentered 500 arrows (keep in mind all the times that I failed to make them too), and found that my skill had not even gone up in the slightest. It may be because my skill is quite high already, but anyways I think it to be a bit harsh.

Other skills like fighting I am happy that they are harder. These changes are like a double-edged sword I suppose.

I agree with Drogla in the ratios of skill difficulty. Unfortunately the head honchos have said it won't be changed.. (I think they said that). So, there really isn't much point in trying to convince them otherwise :(

I still didn't raise my skill in blacksmthing, even though I made about 300 ingots off of long axes. It wasn't until after I got 300 ingots of of making long axes that I raised my skill. I still had to work a lot.

I think the Skillsystem is good with the 10x System. Yes its not easy to become a master but in RL its hard too to become a master. And dont say its to hard to earn enough money when you are not a master. We are not here to raise ouer skills as fast as possible.

And i myself think that it wasn´t good for you to post this Randelf *g*.

Back to the text, don´t you think thas was discussed enough?

First of all changes in the skillsystem give it from time to time but at the moment there are enough other more important things.

Secoundly For a few month Serpardum startet a thread about the skill balance and so one where all this was already said.

I think the Skill system with 10x is fine...
So you have to practice a bit more to get Mastersmith...
It would be unrealistic if you Smith 100 Swords and be a Mastersmith...
I like it 10x and think there should be no change...

Practice a bit more?

To be completely blunt, I doubt 90% of us will even be playing Illarion in the next two years. Correct me if I am wrong, but most people don't just go out and smith for 12 hours a day, everyday to master a skill. If you do not do this, then it would take a couple years just to master one skill, not accounting for any other possible choices (a smith would not have time to train defensive skills, a mage would have time to learn a money-making occupation, etc.).

i think all the new skills are fine except for a few like library research and other SIMPLE skills like that. think about it

One of the only good thigns of runescape was their skill sytem (how it is done, not shown) out of about 20000 people in runescape only abou 100-200 can make full rune. People that play for month could only get their skills to about lvl 55. I played runescape for about 5 months and my highest skill was mining at lvl 62 and not once did i think that these skills are the least bit hard to raise. The problem people really have is that old people that played with the old sytem have mastered just about every skill. People are pressured to get their skills high, if only a few people were mastered at each skill, like in runescape, then people wouldnt be so eager to master a skill. It would be nice to reset everyones stats but there are many people that would be angry, because they have there skilled mastered (easily) and some that actually worked hard and mastered there skills the new way. From what i see there isnt a really good way to make the system perfect =(

Why is it so important to be a master? The most people wants a easy skill system because all want to raise the skills and wants to become a master. We are not here only to raise skills. I play my role when i get better in blacksmithing its good and i'am happy but its not so important.

But Nartak, it isn't realistic to make 500+ weak battle staffs and not even know how to make simple arrows...

Perhaps this could be changed so that if we ever get the 'item quality' Ie. 'Poor axe' ect, most of the items could be made by beginners in theory, just that the quality and succes rate of hard items would be non-existant until you advance.
That would be more logical to me.

i still think that the skills are systen was blown up. it is too hard. harder is better then easier, but there is a limit. i am not a 100% master smith((skill isnt bright red)) but still can smith everything. it took me a few m onths to get top where i am before the new skill system. the skill ssytem doesnt take as much of a toll on me but i still STILL think it shouldnt be made so super nearly impossiblely hard.

YIKES  , I did not want this going into some discussion about some master wanabe you know. I just want my question answered, I dont have much time to play, ever. Well the 10x system is hard admit it. I think that people who are power gamers or have too much time on their hands have the opportunity to be good at a skill.

I am just a normal guy who had the opportunity to train before the 10x system a little.

Think about it... Ultimately making skills harder to gain is never going to stop powergamers. It may drastically reduce them, but only the ones that easily give up. So ultimately, it does nothing to stop powergamers.

It is unrealistic as well. As mentioned before, how is it physically possible for ANYONE to be sooo dense as to make 500, thats right, 500 battle staves and be unknowledgeable to make one simple, small, arrow. All an arrow is made of is a long round stick with some kind of sharpened edge!

It is always said that one cannot become a master in RL that fast...but we may not forget that Illarion is not RL and is far away from that point, so we maybe should look at what would be good for the players fun and the Illarion economy. And as you can see, at the moment the economy is down. I think it is the wrong way to make it so hard to produce anything, who buys 1000 cheap daggers? And who can afford buying all the coal and ore that is needed to make them when you get nothing back? It would be better if you only had to make, let's say 100 daggers, but they would take you maybe 5 coal and ore each. That would also make it more realistic. But i know this has also been discussed and I really have to say that I don't think it will be heard.

That is the exact kind of idea I was just thinking of. It is something like this that should be the actuality of the game, not necessarily 100% accurate to real life.

I Thing the 10x System is good. But i think its not so good to lose the Skills when you die. I Think that should be changed. It's a bit frustrating if you are able to smith cool new stuff and someone killed you and the skills are down and you couldn't smith the stuff anymore.

I Think it would be much better if you louse all the things you wearing and skills but the skills only for some time. So could it be that you lose more skill but after a few day's they increase automatic. the wounds are couring.

Usually if you die you loose much more than a little bit of knowledge and skill. My hope is that people will somewhen stop to see death as some disturbing disruption of their everyday work but see it as something you really do not wish to experience. So they might finally also see killing others as something really bad and not some cavaliers delict several steps below the theft of two pieces of cabbage.

What's the point? They definitely will never change anything at this rate since none of us can agree.
