I am proposing about scratching words in the dirt. you scratch a little message in the dirt, like somthing funny or whats down this hole right now or a gazillion other things this could be used for.

Hehe yes, no offense, i have to agree. It does seem rather useless. But it does seem to be similar to the idea of being able to write on a piece of parchment and the perhaps dropping that on the ground. That could be a bit more usefull.
