The Death of Paul Laffing
A pile of ashes lay in a fire by the minefields. May all remember Paul Laffing.

Paul.....
I've had a bit of fun with him, but not even I anticipated his death. Heh...we've had a good run.
May all remember Paul Laffing.
Bloodhearte grins in a sinister manner
Perhaps...perhaps I can...

Cain sits down solemnly over the place Paul's ashes once were. Quietly, he meditates and prays, praying for the soul of his friend.
"Elara, dumo nindol nesst's bista dro'us dro. Dumo ukt quortek lu' xal ol ragar v'dre wun l' zeklet'taun. Uk zhahus natha bwael nesst, suingmc a draevalen, jhal bwael. Uk orn zuch tlu izwin, Ush'akal Paul Laffing."
((for those of you who cannot read Drow, which is a lot of you, that's "Elara, bless this man's short lived life. Bless his soul and may it find rest in the heavens. He was a good man, silly at times, but good. He will always be known, Sir Paul Laffing."))
Cain then gets up and leaves, letting his voice resonate and travel with the wind.

Hearing the news Roke solemnly walks toward the vase Salathe has. He then removes his hat.
"Farewell friend. Although there were some times we didn't agree with each others beliefs, we always found a way to work it out. The times with you were always happy times, you were always a good person to have around to cheer me up or to help me realize the right way. Farewell, good friend; I will miss you."
Roke wipes away a tear as he walks away.

Elaralith spots the ashes that were once Paul and sighs deeply:
"That poor fool has killed himself through the misuse of his own magic...How horrible. A pity he did not heed my warnings to use magic with care and wisdom! Perhaps in the next life he will finally come to terms with wisdom and not be the fool he was in this life...May Elara grant that!"
Elaralith sighs again in an expression of exasperation before walking away to the library to her studies in her quest for knowledge.

looks at Elaralith angrily
No! He did not die by misuse of his own magic! He had told his plans.
He commited suicide, because you pushed him over the edge. He said that you said things like "Malinne is right not to love you".....
from what he told me, you were the one that caused him to do this....

A sorrowful man, after hearing the news in town, walks slowly towards the mining fields for a last goodbye. As he nears, he sees Bumbol turning to walk away, and hears his last words, and then speaks to the angry halfling.
"Already, one man is dead, and all you can think about is bringing revenge to another? I'm sure Paul would not like to be remembered by fighting. Let his memory rest in peace."
He then continues on to the memorial, where a few people still linger. He then speaks aloud.
"This goes to prove that hatred only spawns hatred... <sighs>"
"To lose someone so well-known is a shame - to lose anyone is a shame. Hopefully this will be the last memorial that I shall have to attend in quite some time."
"Goodbye Paul."
The man then turns and walks slowly away.
