--------------------

Since the bugtracking system flyspray did not fullfill our requirements on a bugtracking system anymore pretty good we setup a new system that works a pretty lot of better.

The bugtracking system is callled Mantis and is reachable by http://illarion.org/mantis/. Also there is a link called "Bugtracker" on the homepage in the development section.

The basic rules for the reporting of bugs are the same as usual. The more exactly the description of the error is the better it is. Also Mantis has a extended version of the reporting form. That extended version takes informations about the reproducebility of the bug. Such informations help alot at solving bugs.

Did you save the bug reports of flyspray? Since I cannot access it any longer and have lots of "Still valid?"-notifications here, I doubt all bugs, listed on flyspray, were solved. But as it seems, you solved a ton of them recently, thumbs up!

Started to resubmit the most critical bugs. But I have a problem with Mantis: I cannot find a valid list of all issues :-(. Yesterday, I submitted two bugs and they don't appear in the list:

http://illarion.org/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php

So, I resubmitted them, but when I enter the ID manually, I find the entries, see e.g.:

http://illarion.org/mantis/view.php?id=32

It is hard to keep track of what was reported and what not when there is not complete list.

Edit: Nevermind, somehow Mantis *thinks* I just want to see one subproject, the default setting of "All projects" did not get restored upon logout. Was für ein unübersichtliches Biest!

Another suggestion:
Add a project "Database", maybe as subproject to "Server". Item values, that are handled in the database, as well as database-bugs (dissapearing bags and stuff) can be adressed there. Currently, you have database as category in the server project, this is pretty confusing IMHO. Also, a project "Unknown" would help those who are not familiar with the technical background of Illarion. I doubt most players know that e.g. fighting is handled by a script while skillgain and resurrection is handled by the server.

Furthermore, as "Category", you have now "General" and only for project server, there is also "database" (thus the confusion). How about sense making categories like "Bug", "Typo", "New feature", "[whatever you need for internal purposes]"?

The severity setting is confusing, too. "Feature" does not make sense to me as well as "text" - those sound more like categories, not a level of severity. And what is the meaning of "tweak" - "Balancing"? And a level between "minor" and "major" would be good, e.g. "annoying like hell" :-P for non-critical yet disturbing bugs. How about an additional level called "Exploit" to mark stuff that requires monitoring and might be necessary to be hidden from the public?

Database as a subpriject makes no sense, since we do not version our database contents, do not have special devs there, also hardly anything is a database issue. MIssing bags and such are clearly server bugs. Players do not have to know to which category a bug belongs, since we can now easily move bugs between projects. When touching issues we assign the appropriate properties anyway. A Category is like a light version of a subproject, but without own version and such. Finally we can make issues private.

Could you change the front post of this thread? It still points to flyspray.

Could someone update the first post so people will actually go to Mantis, such as newbies? The flyspray link is creating a large diversion!
