Disappearing Titles

Post by Elaralith »

Greetings,
Another annoying problem: My title seems to disappear every time I log out. Every time I add it with the new title functions it is no longer there the next time I log in to illarion, and I am forced to repeat the process all over again...Why are my titles disappearing? Can it be fixed? If so please do so...having one's titles disappear all the time can get on one's nerves.

Just #i and they should reappeawr.

It seems that the client doesn't rememeber you OWN title when it changes, just everyone elses. I tested this myself.

Whenever I log in I see myself as Serpardum, but other people see me with the title I introduced myself last as.

@Serpardum I see....so in order for everyone else to see your new title you must re-introduce to them again even though you introduced already before you added the title?

So you mean that it is possible for everyone to see you as having a different title? i.e.:

Paul Laffing the Fisher: Hello everybody
Salathe the smelly: Hello Paul Laffing the Wise
Fooser the weirdo: Hello Paul Laffing the Rich
Seth Valor the Jealous: Hello Paul Laffing the Righteous

And so on. Do you see my point through my extremely large ego?

If you set your title as Bob the fisherman then intro to someone they know you as Bob the fisherman, then if you changed it to Bob the warrior then introduced to someone else they would see it as Bob the warrior, then you could change it back to Bob, and #i to yourself than both people would know you as the fisherman or the warrior and you are Bob. Does that make sense?

It was not really intended for people to change their title willy nillie and the main reason I added !prefix and !suffix so poeple could fix their titles as some had none, or innapropriate ones (a number had their title as Assassin or Thief, not too good )

I am not sure if the !prefix and !suffix will stay in, and they might come out, so I would suggest that you find a title you like and stick with it.

Is it okay if you put something in brackets after your name to represent a tatoo?

King of the world Bror the extremely wise and agile (flaming dragon tatoo on the neck, setting sun tatoo on the shaved head, naked lady tatoo on the left upper arm) says: No.

The client knows nothing about titles. When you log in, your login name is stored with you number as key. This is important or else a newbie loging in would be called "someone" on his own screen until he finds out how to introduce.

Why not have it so that one can only change one's title in a determined long period of time through using the !prefix and !suffix functions? That could possible prevent people from changing it 'willie' nillie' as Serpardum pointed out.
